would Keeping the ring motion on that tree help? If there is motion, it will shine light and then the other camera on the garage mount will have a better chance ? Or am I not thinking about this the proper way?

yes. Garage is on the side facing the driveway. But about a 100 feet back I would guess from the driveway/road entrance.
