This is one, among several reasons, I am putting my cameras on a separate VLAN. No reason any of my cameras should ever be talking to anything directly over the Internet (since I use BlueIris as an intermediary).
I've been using the C1 with a spare Android device and the TinyCam app to manage motion detection and alerts. Specifically I have been using TinyCam's Dropbox integration. It has worked pretty well for me.
I had 4 Foscam units. One is a brick. One is flaky. Two continue to operate. I'm not buying anymore Foscam or Amcrest units. (I do like my C1 which I use in a variety of travel scenarios)
Your experience mirrors mine. I've been testing a variety of cameras ordered via AliExpress (over the last 5 months) and I'll be transitioning away from the Foscam cameras.
After taking a post-initial-research-break, I just finished some renovations on my house and have started pulling my own low voltage cabling. After testing out a few cameras from AliExpress I'm likely going to build out a more considerable system in the next few weeks.
