    Can't figure this out.

I did examine both ends with magnifying glasses, finding no anomalies. I also cut off and discarded the original RJ45s on this run, and very carefully changed both ends, (568B) ending up with exactly the same situation. Being that I've had success with 3 other cameras undergoing the same...

    Can't figure this out.

True enough. As you may have determined I'm an amateur with this stuff. I know enough not to confound the process with conflicting IPs so instead of changing the defaults right away, which is itself something I need to study up a bit on, I just unplugged the other cams I'd previously tested...

    Can't figure this out.

The only thing with that is.... (incomprehensibly) that if there'd been a short along the CAT7 cable's length, I shouldn't have been able to receive the audible signal independently on each wire. I'm certain without a doubt that there was no audible signal coming from the other 7 wires each...

    Can't figure this out.

I should add...I have 2 other cameras installed with the same wire with no problem. I'm able to monitor them. I of course unplug them from the POE switch when testing the one I'm having trouble with, so as not to be using the same default IP address. I planned to change the IP addresses after...

    Can't figure this out.

I used Sunnytech CAT7 ....the pairs are shielded with foil. Yes I used the 568B...Redid each end when I found I couldn't see the camera on-line, just to be sure. When I did the audible signal test each wire corresponded in the right order on the opposite ends.

    Can't figure this out.

After carefully running CAT7 cable from 2nd floor to basement thru stud bays and finished ceilings etc., I put RJ45s on each end, one end to my computer through a POE switch and the other to a Hikvision bullet 8MP camera. The camera's startup lights lit up alright but I couldn't get a picture...

    Making it fit

Thanks to AlistairStevenson and Delboy for their assistance in helping me resolve my initial problem with powering up my pinhole cams via PoE using a cheap splitter. I took a hiatus from my installation over the rest of the summer until just recently. As I may have mentioned I'd been a...

    NVR/camera compatabilty issues

Accuse me of overkill but: I'm looking at a very discounted 2nd hand PowerDsine PD-7012G/AC/M 12-Port PoE Midspan. Very cheap. It is up to 802.3at specs. Would that get my 12v from the NVR to the Intercom?

    NVR/camera compatabilty issues

I'm about to get as tedious as a first year arts student. "What if...what if...." So I'm starting to realize that the "active" part of the splitter is not the introduction of power from an outboard power source (wall-wart) necessarily (and that's how I wrongly conjured up the word "injector")...

    NVR/camera compatabilty issues

Yes 12v. Can I ask you to look at this link? It shows what is described as an "active" 802.3af injector/splitter. Is this what I need...

    NVR/camera compatabilty issues

Not that I've so well versed in the subject other than having learned about incompatibility the hard way, I wish I was informed enough as to have recognized the advantage of the "Mini" previously. For now I'm gonna stay stubborn and stick with my Hikvision money pit. Maybe you could clear...

Oops! Now everyone can see why I'm having trouble. Poor attention to detail. I of course responded without checking the author of the last message. But thanks to you as well as Alastair.

    NVR/camera compatabilty issues

That is beginning to sink in, mightily. I'd imagine Hikvision feels the same way too. It's like trying to stick a VHS tape into a DVD player. Thanks so much for sticking with this and helping me out where it was possible.

    NVR/camera compatabilty issues

I've been surfing all over the net in attempt to improve my understanding and try to determine what extras to buy. Concerning the "PoE active splitter 802.3af," ...is that the same thing as a power injector? A seller on Ebay has a product which is described as "active," but I'm confused in...

    NVR/camera compatabilty issues

Sorry for the delay in responding. I did set it to "Manual"....both the camera and the channel were designated as 192.168.254.16...and the protocol changed to "ONVIF" on the NVR. Still...and very difficult to comprehend the possibilities....I have had no luck with the ONVIF Device Manager...

    NVR/camera compatabilty issues

More trial and error experimentation: With your help, the first success I had in obtaining an image onto the monitor hooked up to my NVR, was accomplished using one of the Seelan cameras (not the ELP). I might have confused that. The Seelans with the tell-tale smaller housing around their...

    NVR/camera compatabilty issues

Yes it did and that is exactly what I received. 2 ELP pinhole cameras. The other two are similar with all the same IP and Port numbers, but don't indicate that they are the ELP brand, and are from a different retailer than "Alipu." Those came in a generic bos indicating basically that their...

    NVR/camera compatabilty issues

Don't mean to be a bore, but I revisited the company's Aliexpress store and found what they advertised. I did that because I remembered subsequent to my last post that I knew I was looking for PoE at the time and I would have queried products using PoE as one of my search criteria. They still...

    NVR/camera compatabilty issues

Thanks to you! I can't really put my finger on what brought about the success, because I believe I used all the numbers in my trial and error previously. The only thing I remember as being different is the connection of my computer to the PoE input. I did not get an image through the NVR from...

    NVR/camera compatabilty issues

Sorry to be piecemeal here but my camera arsenal does include one Hikvision bullet camera, the DS-2CD2032-1. I plugged that one in and the LEDs came on and I got a picture after a short wait. Revisited the PoE Information and found a checkmark instead of the red "x" on the graphic representing...

    NVR/camera compatabilty issues

When I navigate to Camera - PoE information I get a bunch of red "x" overtop of each and every input indicator. I physically tried plugging the camera into a few other inputs to see if I'd get the LED lights ....but no.

    NVR/camera compatabilty issues

Yikes.....after hours and hours and hours of toiling with this, somehow after disconnecting the PC from the NVR PoE input (as you suggested) and plugging the pinhole camera into the same input, using port 8899 and 192.168.254.2, I finally obtained results. The camera image appeared. My wife...

    NVR/camera compatabilty issues

I'm becoming the embodiment of that saying, wrongly attributed to Einstein .......over & over again expecting a different result...... I think I understand the separation of the NVR PoE network from the LAN provided by my router and my computer and the NVRs connectivity to it. I have...

    NVR/camera compatabilty issues

I've used an "IP Scanner" to verify the IP after having been changed to 192.168.254.2...thus conforming to one of the IPs for the NVR........and using this "IP Scanner" I've scanned for all the ports finding 80 8899 8000 (as I changed it from default 34567) and 34561. I've tried all of them...

    NVR/camera compatabilty issues

I have a Hikvision DS-7716N E4/16P NVR. Having an awful time trying to set it up with no background in IP tech. I realize now, after basically poking around in the dark that my presumption as to the ease of mating off-brand cameras with this NVR. My goal was to conceal high resolution...
