Thanks for the info, that is good to know about the checksums. It seems that HIkvision has laid out a lot of traps, and turned very nastily anti-end user. In theory, if one calculates a checksum (md5, sha1 or whatever they are using) on the modified davinci file and replaces the checksum file...
