A good, free mail server to send BI notifications from?

I got it working through BI, although they are a little slow, and keeps sending me repeat pictures.

That did it. Thanks a bunch. Did not go the app password route, previously. It works now, at least the test does. Now I've gotten the motion settings set up and it'll be a waiting game. Thanks again!

A good, free mail server to send BI notifications from?

Can one of you elaborate more on how you have this set up? I could use gmail, I have a gmail account I made for this, at least for sending. I obviously want to rec gmiails on my main account though. I have BI running on a windows PC, and I have a synology NAS as well if I needed a mail...

Cameras disconnecting pretty often. No idea?

Well. After switching port/cam 7 and 3 on the poe switch, 7 disconnected as usual. 3 did not. Changed some recommended settings, toggled them, didn't work. Ethernet traffic, the pc is receiving around 46-52 Mbps. I think that's nowhere near choking a 1g connection.

How would I get to that netgear page? it's an unmanaged switch, no IP.. :( Not saying the box is not bad, but it's a 183 watt switch, I thought it'd be enough for 8 lorex cams.

Cameras disconnecting pretty often. No idea?

Old Timer: Checked that in the camera interface, auto reboot is unchecked. Mike A: No, brand new i7-11700 PC build, Windows 11, set to never sleep. Newest News: Cam 7 did not reset on time. I made that my target camera for changing things. Still watching to see what happens. I switched...

Cameras disconnecting pretty often. No idea?

Yea, I would have to unplug all the cams and wait at least 2 hours, Worth a try for testing the poe switch, though. Also I would use a port on a cam on one of the 3 cams that never go down. What part of VA? I'm originally from Newport News.

I also don't know if switching the POE switch to a second nic would make a difference, that's in the works as well, to see if this problem keeps going. Looking over the cam disconnect log, that I posted here, it almost keeps the same order the cams go out.

Cameras disconnecting pretty often. No idea?

MikeA : I just wonder if the purp drive isn't spinning up fast enough when it's time to copy. The file actually gets copied, at least later, as it doesn't exist in the current directory afterwards. TVille: Haven't been able to catch that, connecting to the camera, as it only lasts less than 3...

Cameras disconnecting pretty often. No idea?

Well, I still can't figure it out. Every 2 hours, close, those cameras lose connection. They di it while running only as a service, invisible otherwise, do it when BI is actually running and viewing cams. I'm at a loss right now.

Cameras disconnecting pretty often. No idea?

Yep, Looney2ns, did all that. And more. Only difference was I'm using Nvidia nvdec for the hardware. GPU still runs at around 40-45C doing that, no noise. Because my old gut tells me somethings up with this 2 hour thing, I changed a couple cameras, as above, and am going to let them run...

Cameras disconnecting pretty often. No idea?

Looks like the only common denominator, the mp is high on the dropping cameras. How do I adjust that, or should I ? Only other thing, ALL cameras have the 2 hour copy over-- (not copy over, clip size cutoff) . to store folder. That stays in line with the 2 hour drop on most cameras ?? I...

Also all cameras, although 4 different models total, are set to direct to disc, bvr. Cam 1, cam 4, cam 7 are Lorex LNE8964ab. Cam 5, cam 8 are Lorex LNE4422b. Cam 2, cam 6 is Lorex LNE8963b. Cam 3 is Lorex LNZ44p4b. Cam 3,5,8 never dropped. Have not checked firmware of each, but diff model...

Was just going to comment, all cameras dropping are 8mp listed. All fps are set to 15. Don't see where motion is detected triggering this.

Cameras disconnecting pretty often. No idea?

Weird goings-on here. I can't figure this out. System is a new PC only running BI. Netgear GS316pp poe+ 16 switch. 8 cameras in all hooked in right now. All cables are weatherproofed. Never had this disconnect issue until I switched from the lorex nvr. Seems like it's generally the same...

Considering moving to PC blue iris, versus current lorex nvr. Questions, comments invited.

It's best to get off of the NVR. And lorex recommends not running their nvr off of a switch.

The cables are under the house, and under trim mostly. I did seal up each end, the housing piece, and had a glop of grease on the ends. I don't suspect that, although who knows. The CPU / BI hasn't hit over 18% running since I applied the tweaks on setup. Don't know, I'll keep an eye on it...

I'm with you, wittaj. SOO disappointed in my last 3 lorex NVRs. good cameras, however, no update unless you specifically call them, then they mail you a firmware update if there is one. NVR software is clunky. I won't get started. :) Loving this BI so far. I messed with it way back, maybe...

Anyone have a reason I get a camera occasionally drop off for maybe a minute or two? I've seen one, and up to two cameras at once, 'no connection', then by themselves they come back. I wasn't doing a thing in BI when they dropped or came back. Almost all of them over a day have done that. ??

Ahh, ok. Lots of tips and tweaks out there, still working on them, and understanding them. So far I've got it running as a service, and the CPU is around 10-12% usage. Working well so far.

Ok. Cont+trig it is. What I would like to see, and I guess asking that way will get help with the settings :) 24/7 recording, of the main stream. I have it set to display substream for regular viewing. Meanwhile, any triggers gives me a red outlined box, on the left, when something happens...

Early days, got the system running with 8 cams so far. I have looked at many tutorials for setting up BI, I've configured the substreams, done all that I can find on tuning to keep the CPU load down. One question has come up though, I do not see where BI is recording 24/7 whether there is...

Maybe more for someone who has done this, but should I do any prep work on the existing cams, when it's time, before I unplug them from the nvr, and start them into the POE ? For instance, setting up a certain IP on each cam, so I can at least find them somehow, and avoid climbing up to each on...

Meanwhile, continuing in my hijacked thread... :) I have gotten the system built, need to get a monitor for it before I can run it. I did purchase a TP link NIC card for 15.00. To be honest I really don't know much about doing anything with that second nic. I have read, as also said here...

So for argument sake, the extra nic card may be a future upgrade. So, for now, with a dedicated PC running blue iris, the PC having 1 ethernet port, and that -NETGEAR 16-Port Gigabit Ethernet Unmanaged PoE+ Switch (GS316PP) - with 16 x PoE+ @ 183W- (Amazon.com) Router -> POE switch(cameras) ->...

So the poe switch hooks to the router -and- the PC ? The 9 cameras are plugged in ethernet.
