    SmartPSS Export

I am trying to export video from my Dahua 5216 with SmartPSS. I set the start time and stop time, but it always wants to export an hour of video. I really just need to export a few minutes or a few seconds. I seem to get the start time right, but end time is one hour after start time.

Camera that can stream to a URL

Do any of the Dahua camera stream directly to an internet URL? I would like to stream directly to a cloud based service. I have a 300MB internet connection that I can upgrade to 1GB so I am not worried about saturating my internet connection.

    5216 NVR Flakey

Well the NVR just crapped out again. It stopped working after about 3 days. Now I cant get it to boot up. The power light comes on fan turns on, hard drive spins up. But no video out. I want to update the firmware, but cant see how to do that without the device booting up.

    IVS - trip wire experience

Bingo, that was the problem. You also need to remember to set it up for each channel. But once I did that I got my orange lines. Thank you very much.

    5216 NVR Flakey

Its hard to believe, but I don't actually have a normal PC to put the drive into. However, upon removing the drive the NVR does not even boot up. It connects and discounts from the switch (I have been watching the activity light). The behavior seems worse so I am guessing it is not the drive. I...

    IVS - trip wire experience

Weird, I am having the same behavior. The IVS event appears in the log, however, I don't get the orange (yellow) line. I have zoomed in pretty close on the timeline and it is still not there. Also it does not appear on the file list the way yours does.

    5216 NVR Flakey

I have had my new 5216 NVR with 16 POE ports for a couple of weeks now and its behavior has been pretty flakey. It typically takes a long time to boot up, and then after a few hours locks up. When booting it up again, it makes me go through the setup process again, like I was turning it on for...

Make sure that you are running IE and not Edge. I made that mistake.

You don't have a receiver specified. Try adding that. Also make sure that your default gateway in your TCP/IP settings is correct.

    IVS setup help

The default working period is always. I double checked it and saved it again. I drew a bunch of vertical lines up and down the door. I also added a box around the door for Intrusion detection. Also when I go to the Live view on the camera or on PSS I do not see the lines that I have drawn in the...

    IVS setup help

Ok, I am downloading SmartPSS to play with it. However, I still don't have IVS events being triggered. I seem to have the opposite effect. I am checking the live stream directly from the camera and there are not lines. I have setup a tripwire setting and I believe I have it set right but I...

    IVS setup help

Thanks for the info. I have checked out the other thread but still struggling. Will work on it some more tomorrow. As for paying it backwards, I am keeping a log of all the things that I am doing to get this going with all the gotchas. I will make the beginners guide available when I am done...

    IVS setup help

Ok, I fell like I am wearing out my welcome but here goes. I have IVS setup. However, in the video earlier in this post it shows the lines for tripwire in the LIVE feed. When I go to my live feed I don't see the tripwire lines.

    IVS setup help

So it turns out it was not the resolution, but the scaling of the text and apps which I had to 150%. In case anybody else has the same issue. But thank you for pointing me in the right direction. Now more fun begins and I am sure more questions. You guys are invaluable.

I started by using Edge, but could not get the plug in installed. So I downloaded Chrome and go to the IP address of the camera from the plugin.

    IVS setup help

Hi all, I have my new HDW5231R-Z set up and running. I go to the setup screen to set up IVS as indicated here and it does not let me draw the lines. I create a rule for tripwire, save it, I click on draw rule and a get a little flash on the bottom right that says "please draw now" it does not...

    Crimpers and Connectors

Great info here. Thanks everyone. Good information on the crimpers. Is there a brand of connectors that people recommend. I will make sure that I match the connector to the type of cable that I use.

    Crimpers and Connectors

Hi All, My shipment from Andy arrived yesterday and I am thrilled. I have a regular crimper and a bunch of monoprice connectors that seem to fail a lot. They don't stay plugged into the router or switches very well. I figure if I am spending all this money on equipment I should use high quality...

Best type of lighting for Starlight cameras

Wow, that is a lot of posts. First I plan on recording 24/7 at the highest resolution. Hard disks are cheap. I plan on putting as much real light as possible. Does anyone have any comments on my camera placement? Also I don't have an issue with turning off the camera IR illumination if...

Best type of lighting for Starlight cameras

Ok well here goes. The red rectangle is my wife's car. The green lines are where I want to put my cameras. The Purple lines are additional spotlights in addition to the sconces by the entrance of the driveway and beside each of the the garage doors, and additional lights over the porch. The...

Best type of lighting for Starlight cameras

I plan on leaving them on all night, I will have them attached to my Insteon system so they can turn on at dusk and off at dawn. Just wanted to know if the camera reacts better to one type of light or not. Also is it appropriate for me to post a layout of the driveway here as j4co suggests?

Best type of lighting for Starlight cameras

So I am going to get 3 of the new Starlight turrents to cover my driveway. I am also installing a bunch of lights around the house and plan on lighting up the driveway pretty well. I have had a rash of breakins on my wife's car and I want it to stop or at least be able the identity the culprits...

    Dahua NVR5216-4KS2 / NVR5216-16P-4KS2

Well for $40 that makes it a no brainer. Going to order one up with some POE ports. After all we are talking about a piece of equipment that will in theory help defend my house, and hopefully help identify the idiots that keep breaking into my wife's car.

    Dahua NVR5216-4KS2 / NVR5216-16P-4KS2

I have ordered the new Starlight cameras that have the IVS function. But I guess I just like higher end stuff and I hate locking myself out of new features. Especially if it only costs about $100 more. I will probably order one of these with either 8 or 16 POE ports.

NVR with built in Web Server

Thanks, I could not find the router on TMO, but I will pick one up somewhere. Now that I am resigned to setting up the VPN which DVR should I buy. 16 Ports will be overkill so that's fine. Do I want a Quad Core or Dual Core. I will be using the new Starlight cameras so what is the best Dahua NVR...

NVR with built in Web Server

Unfortunately I cannot completely bypass my existing router since it also drives my phone from ATT Uverse. So I will have to buy a secondary router and port forward to it. I was just hoping to avoid that. I was hoping to buy an NVR that connects to a cloud service that bypasses the need for a...
