    Blue Iris and CodeProject.AI ALPR

Worth a shot I guess. :) I've also considered 24 hr time and a smaller font size. I think I'll still set up my tracking app to pull all inferences not just the first one. Then I can clearly see if I'm getting odd patterns.

    Blue Iris and CodeProject.AI ALPR

Does everyone remove the timestamp from their LPR camera? I recently noticed that the car with plate "PM" was passing by quite a lot and finally figured out what was up: I did notice that the license plate model in YOLO v8 doesn't seem to capture the timestamps. For now I'll just disable...

    Blue Iris and CodeProject.AI ALPR

I'm going to cross-post this from my other thread. I've been unable to use the license plate CP.AI with the GPU since it just stops for no reason. Works GREAT with the CPU only. So I reinstalled the CUDA 11.8 drivers (I guess I hadn't done that and was running 12.X). GPU inference now...

CodeProject LPR not detecting car because pre-trigger frames don't seem to exist.

I realized I didn't have the CUDA 11.8 drivers/toolkit installed. So I did that; and the GPU does get used: However, the AI sure is hallucinating.. { "api":"alpr", "found":{ "success":true, "processMs":882, "inferenceMs":840...

CodeProject LPR not detecting car because pre-trigger frames don't seem to exist.

I did some more investigation and got it dialed in much better. Removing object detection so I wasn't doing the license-plates model AS well as ALPR seemed to help. I also noticed that my camera was set to H.265. Setting it to H.264 resulted in stable frame grabs with nothing missing. I...

CodeProject LPR not detecting car because pre-trigger frames don't seem to exist.

AH HA!!! THANK YOU! No it wasn't clear to me at that the CP.AI response times would have any impact on the ability to grab a plate # before the plate is out of view. However, reading the manual I do see the following very relevant writeup and diagram: My mental model for this was that as...

CodeProject LPR not detecting car because pre-trigger frames don't seem to exist.

Hello, thanks for the response. As for the slow CP.AI response time, I do have an issue in my particular configuration right now; YOLO object detection leverages the GPU just fine but license plate detection crashes when the GPU is used. So for the moment LPR is CPU only. The plates do get...

CodeProject LPR not detecting car because pre-trigger frames don't seem to exist.

I'm using CodeProject LPR and I'm having some issues reliably capturing plates. The illustration below shows what I think is the problem. Here's an analysis of one of the AI DAT files: The car moves from right to left; as you can see, at T=0msec, the bumper of the car is just barely in frame...

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

I guess it pays off to have assorted screwdrivers instead of a just 20 variations of flat and phillips. :)

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

It is an odd shape; I have only really found the tool that it comes with works well.

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

This one here. It seems to lock the swivel of the part holding the camera and the camera itself.

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

You need the hex key tool it came with; there is a little silver set screw in the base that locks the camera head in.

Not yet. I will have to find that and give it a shot. I wonder if the lack of wdr for plates is a known issue. Mind you the default shutter speed is way too slow and the cars are smears. I really had to quicken the shutter speed to get things to work.

Okay, so far I've tweaked the exposure and shutter speed to optimize viewing plates, just like I did with the 2 MP ALPR cam I've got set up. In addition to using the ALPR AI mode, if you configure to use the "AI metadata" detection: You CAN detect cars. It does appear that in this mode ALPR...

So far the "WizMind" literature's promise of "AI-powered image processing" is not working... That license plate is a hot mess.

The setup for the ANPR is a bit of a mystery to me so far... You are supposed to set up "lanes" of traffic and indicate the land direction. If you just set up one lane, then it looks like it'll ONLY ANPR traffic going in that direction. So you can see above I created two lanes which...

    Loryta IPC-HFW7442H-Z4-X first impression

Wow, the time flew. I kept meaning to mount this camera alongside my regular 2mp starlight bullet to compare the two. That resulted in a whole string of things I had to do, like call to get the utilities marked, dig the post hole, install the post, let the cement cure, get outdoor CAT6...

Loryta IPC-HFW7442H-Z4-X - what fitting for junction box?

Well apparently I was too quick to think this was anything other than standard NPT fittings. It is 3/4" NPT. So I just needed a bushing to reuse one of the 1/2" cable glands I have.

Loryta IPC-HFW7442H-Z4-X - what fitting for junction box?

Does anyone know what type of fitting fits the junction box that comes with the IPC-HFW7442H-Z4-X? The hole appears to me 24mm, so it doesn't look like a 1/2 or 3/4" conduit male adapter is going to work.

I'm not quite sure how this works yet; I'll update once I get it set up. :) The utility companies finally marked things out so I'll have to get some time to put the post in.

Cool, sounds like some reasonable improvements. Have you tried the ALPR on it yet? I found the configuration for that a bit odd; I'm on a small residential road so I'm not sure the concept of lanes really is going to work.

My Andy-branded IPC-HFW7442H-Z4-X arrived yesterday from Amazon so I hooked it up and did some of the initial setup. Here is my first impressions: 1. The UX on this model is FAR better than on my older 2mp starlights. Although video works just fine on Chrome, one gripe I have is that the camera...

What is everyone doing with the plate numbers they ALPR?

I was thinking to detect abnormal cars automatically; I suspect that the cars going down the street are pretty pretty predictable. People generally take the same routes all the time, so finding a vehicle that is "out of place" shouldn't be too hard. The car counting seems like a simple one...

What is everyone doing with the plate numbers they ALPR?

Curious what everyone does with the plate numbers they ALPR? I'm thinking of writing a small app to track plates read, time/date and a link back to the BI clip. I feel like it would be pretty easy to recognize new plates or abnormal traffic patterns. I haven't seen anything out there that...

    Blue Iris and CodeProject.AI ALPR

I don't appear to have that installed: This is definitely a CUDA driver problem though; if I switch the license plate module to use CPU then it does read plate numbers perfectly. BI even picks them up.. Nice! I'll run the script from CodeProject.ai that installs the right drivers and...

    Blue Iris and CodeProject.AI ALPR

I'm just trying to get CodeProject to recognize a sample plate fed manually directly into CodeProject and it won't read the plate number. I do have "ALPR for Plates" turned on BI AI settings: And I am using the license-plate custom module as well. BI also does not read the plates. I'll...
