Oem to hik firmware - Hik-Connect

Wanted to ask if anyone had noticed if after updating an oem hik camera to a full hik firmware if the hik-connect option is available vs the guardian oem service. Picked up a 2CD2463G0 oem unit last week. Seems to match everything from the matching non oem except for a few things including the...

    R0 / DS-2CD2x32 BrickfixV2 brick recovery and full upgrade tool - enhanced.

What issues did you notice with 2019 R1 and HK cameras? I have 16 cameras running on two different R1 servers and haven't noticed anything odd. I do have some chinese cameras that are back at 5.2 that I want to upgrade via this thread's instructions. Thanks

    HK cam and milestone

Thanks for the reply. I should have mentioned that I had set a schedule in the camera but it doesn't seem to stick. Go back in and it's back to the 24/7 schedule. When I searched for that issue on google i came across others who noted a glitch with the camera based schedules. Just before you...

    HK cam and milestone

Having an issue trying to get cameras on a milestone schedule whilst using the built in motion on the cameras. For this one scenario It's a HK camera with built in motion. 2cd2332. I already have this and other cams setup for xprotect to see a hardware event of motion start and motion stop...

    xprotect 2017 client memory leak?

I was close to reaching the same conclusion. The intel updated warns me of a vendor specific driver for video, so I'll prob have to chat with dell and see what exactly they can advise on this. Their driver is from Nov '16 but I'm guessing since this machine is so new that they will package...

    xprotect 2017 client memory leak?

Want to ask if anyone has come across an issue with the latest xprotect 2017 R1 smart client and memory issues. I'm trying to transition an older machine out, I believe it's an HP 8200 and I'm trying to build up a new Dell 7040m unit. The HP unit has 6 cams up in the current view, full quality...

    milestone event issue

If anybody has some insight on this: brand new install of 2017 R1 Essential. All cameras are HK, using the 8x3 profile. Everything appears to show up fine in the config console except for events. When I go to configure events for recording, the only option I see is for built in motion...

advice from those running xprotect in a VM

got it, I just pulled down a few detailed videos on folks setting up BI. Will watch these and give it a try.

advice from those running xprotect in a VM

Do I want to spend that much money on milestone? heck no. But I am very comfortable with that software platform both at home and at work. I've played around with many different nvr software packages but the ease of setup and monitoring with milestone seems the better option, just not the...

advice from those running xprotect in a VM

I did remember hearing about that, but I thought that was only for paid essential customers right? I found one shop that sells the essential license, looks like for 16 cams it would run about 800. but plus the price of the milestone care I wonder how close that would put me to the outright...

advice from those running xprotect in a VM

Since I can't afford the latest and greatest I'm not really up to date on what is used in the datacenters now, so no challenge to what you're saying!

advice from those running xprotect in a VM

No not really. it's comparing two different focuses of application. The xeon setup has it's strong points for datacenter applications where very heavy loads are key.

advice from those running xprotect in a VM

Prob won't go beyond 16 cams for my setup, but what is the limit of a optiplex/elitedesk unit in terms of number of cameras it can handle?

advice from those running xprotect in a VM

Yeah yeah yeah I know it's a heater. I run mostly virtual platforms so these servers are my main go to for the sheer power, just at the expense of electricity.

advice from those running xprotect in a VM

come now, don't bash my servers too much. They were a great deal for a great price when I got them, and compared to how power hungry the 2950 and 1950 were, these were definitely an improvement. Right now I'm seeing a reading of 190W. But that is with the machine still running vmware. I'm...

advice from those running xprotect in a VM

Oh I know this is a beast. The built in power metering does a good job of showing me that info. For right now I'm considering another machine a patch. Having two machines covering 8 cameras each does seem quite overkill, but I like your point about more of a desktop unit that certainly...

advice from those running xprotect in a VM

The r410 is old, but the vms system was a 1950 before so it was a definite upgrade for me! I can get another r410 for a little over $100 but even the 420 is 400+. It's a home budget so not something I can throw tons of money into. I figure 100 something to get another 8 cameras going and save...

advice from those running xprotect in a VM

Excellent points, thanks. I had a vm running with vms years ago with decent results, but not nearly the HD quality of cams I'm using now. Figured it was worth a shot but hadn't quite realised the performance impact of then vs now. For the RAID setup, I know 0 can blow the entire array of a...

advice from those running xprotect in a VM

Wanted to ask what people have seen for experience when running xprotect in a VM. The scenario I have at the moment is a jump from 8 cameras to 16. Obviously the free version doesn't allow that, so my thought was to visualize the host and run two essential servers. But... when I have the...

Dahua HBD3200 unbricking - putty jumble

To cover one more base, I ordered that adapter you mentioned. Coming from across the pond so it may take a bit to get here but if my Linux trial doesn't show anything different this will allow another angle to be tried.

Dahua HBD3200 unbricking - putty jumble

I checked the prolific site and they mentioned windowsupdate will auto download the driver. That appears to be what the new W7 build did as when checking the device properties I see it's the 3.8.3.0 driver that prolific has listed on their site. Maybe I'm getting myself confused now with the...

Dahua HBD3200 unbricking - putty jumble

Roger that. With the slim pic running w7, it immediately picked it up as a prolific adapter if I remember correctly. Was thinking I would need to battle with installing the right driver. Would you have a direct link to a known ttl cable to try?

Dahua HBD3200 unbricking - putty jumble

I did pull down other software thinking the same, haven't tried it yet. The putty output isn't continuous, it flows, stops, flows a bit more and stops. I can repeat it with the manual reset button so to me it's prob the right output, just the wrong language. I've seen this with my Cisco...
