    Tree crashes onto power lines

Yes sir, but this load test just verified the batteries need replacing. Gotta order a new set. Debating to get another set of Lead Acid, or spend the dough and get LiFePo4.

    Review-Dahua IPC-HFW1831C-PIR 4k Mini Bullet

I just browsed through this whole thread. I am trying to figure out what I am doing wrong. I am still in testing, but I can't get 2 way audio to work when GDMSS is connected to my NVR 4116-4ks2. When I connect directly to the camera, I can get 2 way to work. Any hints to point me in the...

PoE splitter wanted that provides both 12v *AND* PoE on the camera end

Exactly what I am looking for. Pricey. With shipping, if you order 1, it is about $55-$60, depending on vendor. WATCH THE MODEL NUMBERS!! They do make a 5VDC model that Newegg has and would be $45 with shipping.

    Carelessness cost me...I got hit...

Just an update. The suspect did not show for his interview. This is not the highest priority case they have. I am in contact with the detective about once a week for followup. If I have to shame this guy all over social media, then I will do that. Just waiting on the law to do their job first.

Couple of car crashes in a week.

No update on the biker. The car driver required 20+ stitches around the eye. Sent from my VS995 using Tapatalk

Couple of car crashes in a week.

One of my clients had a couple of crashes in front of his business. He happened to be next in rotation for the tow from the first one.

    Shielded cat6 cable

I just used direct burial Cat 6 for a camera where I buried the wire to the remote building. It is not easy to terminate. Prefer regular cat5e or cat6 any day.

    Carelessness cost me...I got hit...

Just want to give everyone a little update. My social media campaign seemed to work. Police are setting up to grab a suspect. I have been in constant contact with the detectives (which they admit, love my Starlights). Here are some pics of the suspect from his Facebook account. This one...

    Carelessness cost me...I got hit...

I have already added another camera, pointing camera left towards the house. This would have gotten more of him coming and going. The camera covering the left side is set back, and is a great choke point camera, but it does miss some of the driveway. I may add another camera to fully cover...

    Carelessness cost me...I got hit...

Also, the non-YouTube version is much clearer (as most of you are aware). I can't even see the guy too well on the time lapse from the dash cam.

Dahua Starlights. I do have an LED driveway light, too, on the truck side. That is why the other side goes into night mode, but I have the IR turned off. Truck side goes into night mode intermittently (again, no IR), depending on weather conditions.

    Carelessness cost me...I got hit...

No guns. Laptop and Tablet. Our neighborhood was quiet. I wasn't sure what was up with the Thumbnail. Youtube picked some random image. I have since fixed.

    Carelessness cost me...I got hit...

I was careless with a false sense of security. Bright LED light. Practically next door to a gun shop (don't all the neighbors own a gun?) Never been targeted. But, this jerk got me. This is the full length video from when he first appears to when he took off.

    POE/POE+ switch recommendations - calling @giomania @arjun @fenderman @cyberwolf_uk

You most likely will never fill a POE switch with cameras. You will always need an uplink.

To Port Forward or Not To Port Forward?

Asus routers have VPN server built in. I use the OpenVPN server. I did increase the encryption to 256 bit in the advanced section. Install the app, download the config from the router, import the configuration, and connect with your user name and password. You can add additional users.

Designing my first IP camera system, would appreciate advice

I will explain how I set it up, and why I set it up the way I did, and what I am using. I am also assuming you want to use it inside the same network as your camera. On the camera(s) that I want to view on TinyCam, Dahua Starlight, I did the following. 1) Turned on Substream 2 at 720P...
