    Help with CPU performance [Solved]

Sayyyy whhhaaaatttttt! So, your saying that the major isp's wouldn't block/slow traffic to competitor sites, or, hold streaming sites like Netflix/Hulu hostage by requiring them to pay $ to stream full speed thru the ISP's? It's interesting that major ISP's have spent millions lobbying for the...

    Help with CPU performance [Solved]

I'm thinking of going VPN. Especially now that FCC repealed Net Neutrality. I'll wait to see what Congress does. If it stays repealed, it's the beginning of 'internet wars' between the isp's and other service providers.

    Help with CPU performance [Solved]

I bought IPCamViewer years ago before I had BI and have kept it up to date, so.... that's what i've used - out of habit I suppose. When I hear a noise I have usually always go to IPCamViewer just to view - again out of habbit. I'm switching over to the BI Android app. I have also bought the...

    Help with CPU performance [Solved]

I believe BI does not support GPU acceleration. It would most defiantly improve your overall system performance, since it's probably using a chunk of your system memory AND a bit of cpu. What does task manager tell you, or Sysinternals process explorer?

How can I improve on this facial image?

Here is a 4k image of Santiago taken from a 4k HD security camera on top of a skyscraper. Zoom in on the marina on the left and you can see yachts and sailboats, though pixelated. You can even see the stripes in the parking lot. If you can see them at between 1-1.5 miles, zooming in 40 foot...

How can I improve on this facial image?

Your lake of faith disturbs me, says Yoda. All those CSI type 'Enhance image' are false. You can;t enhance resolution that does not exist. Those programs only guess and fill in what it 'thinks' should be between the pixels it's enlarging.

    Purchasing BLUE IRIS from eBay

I contacted BI about the eBay sellers. They are valid resellers. But, I just don't trust purchasing registration keys on eBay. Another option... If you buy it from Amcrest, it's $45. All you really get (or need) is the registration key, and you download the software from BI.

How can I improve on this facial image?

Suggestion... - Zoom out as far as you can to get the widest field of view to get all activity. With the cameras resolution, you should be able to zoom into the recording to get detail. - Clone the camera, then use AOI to get the areas you want in a larger view and recordings. Then, you can...

    Help with CPU performance [Solved]

Live view is the fps of the BI interface. Lowering it can have a large effect on cpu. Setting it to 15, or even 10 should still give you smooth viewing. With that many cameras, you may need to go to 5? UI3 is awesome, I agree. And, i use it from time to time remotely to view and change BI...

Am I wasting my time with Amcrest/Foscam?

Compared to the higher quality cameras, yes. In a few years I may invest in a few high quality cams with heated/cooled enclosures with higher res, ir, & optical zoom. But until I can justify the cost, these will do. I've ordered and reviewed 6 different mfg ptz cameras of this type and price...

    Foscam's staggeringly poor software support

I'm running a AMD 4-core 2.7GHz with 16gig memory, with 6 960p cameras, cloning 2 for a total of 8 viewports. 24/7 recording d2d on 6 cameras, with triggers, sms, email notifications on 2 cameras. Cpu runs at around 27%.

Before we go any further... I know the general feeling about 'Foscam'. And, about Foscam.us that left there previous users high and dry! That's why i switched tio the manufacturer in China, and dealt with them directly when I upgraded to these, FI9829P V2, cameras. They are still at the...

Am I wasting my time with Amcrest/Foscam?

Yup. After the 'split' foscam.us is no longer an option. I contacted the manufacturer in China and negotiated a lower price. I've found them to be very helpful.

Anyone discover how to ctrl R2 brightness/contrast via BlueIris?

Right-Click camera, then under PTZ/Control, choose Brightness or Contrast. You can also setup a schedule based on your time zone to change these settings at sunset/sunrise, with a relative offset time that will change each day as the days get shorter or longer. For example, you can set Contrast...

Completely new to camera and BI software.

If you pay someone to set this up, you may as well put them on your payroll. Better to learn, than constantly pay someone. There's a a lot of tweaking to get camera positions, motion & triggering, setup. Then, time-to-time maint & updates.

All I can say is.... WOW. This is totally awesome dude! Tubular! Amazing job. You SHOULD get that deal from Ken! So much about it I like. Nothing to critique. Great idea. Something I would like to see in the BI program itself. Maybe, have an option for the # of columns to display - which...

    General questions regarding storage

That's a good price. However, does your box support usb 3.0? You can check by the color of the usb port - should be blue, and, it may have a SSusb symbol next to the port. If not, it would run at usb 2.0 speeds. I'm not sure if an external hard drive will perform adequately for Blue Iris...

Android APP connects randomly when not on WiFi

Android App: 2.0.48 Blue Iris: 4.6.4.6 x64 This was all working great, until I upgraded to 4.6.4.6, from 4.6.2.1 or 4.6.0.4 (can't remember which). Issue: When connecting via the android app from OUTSIDE my network (not on WiFi), I will have to attempt to connect several times before it...

Best Blue Iris setting for less false alerts due to windy cloud shadows?

Your correct. Setting a preset position is critical. Some cameras have a bit of play in them, so they do not always go precisely to the preset, but off by several pixels. After going to my main preset, I use visual ques to help position. Like corners/tops of roof, edge of trees... Anything...
