View Q-see cameras using Blue IRIS

Thank you. I have it set up the same way - and the VPN is set up. However, I can't get some apps on Android (like tinycam, or microsoft remote desktop) to recognize that I'm on the VPN. Anyway, spent a very very long time trying to figure that out with Unifi support and they (and I) gave up.

Thank you - that was the pointer I needed - that solved the issue for me.

View Q-see cameras using Blue IRIS

Hello, I have a Q-see NVR with 8 PoE cameras on it. I'd like to be able to view these cameras remotely (when I'm outside the LAN) - in the past, I was using TinyCam with port forwarding on my router. I've disabled port forwarding, and have been struggling to get a VPN set up to allow me to VPN...

    VPN Primer for Noobs

Thank you. I spend this morning first trying to just remove the ISP modem/router, and making the UDM the main router/gateway. Unfortunately, that led to my STBs completely losing their mind, and TV service being disabled. Tried to put the ISP modem/router back, but in bridge mode. STBs still...

    VPN Primer for Noobs

Thanks - looks like I was missing 2 ports (1701/1812) - but unfortunately, even with those ports being forwarded, the connection is not successful. I will need to look at possibly running openvpn on my PC instead

    VPN Primer for Noobs

So, in theory, if I move my NVR to be under the IOT network in my UDM VLAN, would keeping the ISP router/switch active as the gateway router help add an additional layer of security for my devices? (since all my devices are now under the UDM). This assumes that I can get my UDM VPN set up of...

    VPN Primer for Noobs

Thank you so much! I think the double natting is causing this VPN issue. Ubiquiti support is also helping troubleshoot

    VPN Primer for Noobs

You are right - I should try it out and see what it actually does. I was reading/watching the reviews of the UDM and one reviewer had mentioned he had run into that performance issue. So, I didn't try it out. I'll give it a shot. Before I implement the solution though, I still need to get my VPN...

    VPN Primer for Noobs

I can't seem to get UDM VPN to work unfortunately. The reason I'm trying to VPN into the UDM VLANs is because from there, I can traverse to the 192.168.1.x network to access the NVR. I didn't put the NVR on the UDM router because the UDM router is doing deep packet inspection - and with 8 video...

    VPN Primer for Noobs

Thank you - I should have been clearer - the ISP equipment (router) has a 4 port switch built into it (as do most of the routers on the market), so I can connect multiple devices to it, including other switches/routers. These are exterior cameras only, so even if somebody gets into it, that...

    VPN Primer for Noobs

A relative n00b question coming in, about port forwarding/VPN etc. Here's what my network looks like today. ISP router (not in bridge mode) handing out 192.168.1.x IPs - my NVR/associated cameras are directly connected to this (no other devices, besides the UDM router, are connected to this...

Thank you! That leads me to one more question (truly appreciate your patience with these). Cameras I've used in the past have insisted on using Internet explorer for camera admin gui access. Does the Z12E allow us to use Chrome or edge or firefox? or are we forced to use IE?

Thank you - very informative. I understand the issue with mounting camera higher than 7 ft - but that will be a challenge for my location. Brick exterior. I'll try to figure out some alternatives on getting it mounted lower than the 10-11 ft that I have currently. I messaged Andy - but I'll...

    Need recommendations

Thank you - very helpful! I'm planning to keep my existing cameras as overview cameras - these are at about 10ft height at the 4 corners of the house (2 at each corner). This is a corner house, so I plan to add the new cameras on the 2 sides close to the 2 streets. Shutter speed - can that be...

Hi,I currently have a q-see NVR with 8 QCN8068BA cameras. Works reasonably well, or so I thought. (4MP, PoE, 1/3" sensor) Recently, a neighbor lost some from his yard, and asked me if I could help - found the footage (daytime), but could not even make out the large logos on the side of the...

Network risk after removing IP camera

One option that I think may work is to create separate LANs, using two separate routers. So, even if you get hacked because of the open ports, only the LAN with the open ports get hacked (the 2nd router, with all your other devices should not have any open ports). I keep the NVR/cameras on a...

    tinycam fps problems

In tinycam, how do we select a substream instead of the main stream? Edit: found the answer - Can I record in high quality, and view in low quality ? need to select "Low bandwidth profile"

    Hi, from Texas

Thanks - I think I'm going to go down the route of getting a NVR with some stock cameras, and then, adding Dahua Starlights. Making sure that the NVR is compatible with the Dahua of course

    Hi, from Texas

Thank you! That's a pretty good tool - I can use that to compare the views from various cameras. Several of the cameras that I want to compare are not on that tool, and so, I'm not sure how those compare to the recommended Dahua ones (8 of the Dahua recommended ones will eat up my budget pretty...

    Hi, from Texas

Hi, Heard about this site recently, and found folks to be fairly responsive/helpful. Looking for some guidance. I currently have a Q-see QC9116 with QCA8050B cameras installed (Analog HD - BNC connectors). I've used it for a while now, and thought it was ok (not great, but usable)...
