    New iDMSS Version 4.90.000

@toolazyforalogin Thanks, I’ve been using it for some time now. Some things are definitely improved, but overal I still get a ”one step forward, two steps back” feeling, every time Dahua releases a new version... As mentioned above, it doesn’t remember the last screen setup anymore, so you have...

    New iDMSS Version 4.90.000

Since a couple of updates ago, most of the features seem to work now, although IVS is still unclear to me. I can see the IVS markers when I choose "Normal" or "Smart recording", but I still have to go there manually. Still not sure whether this is the way to do it, maybe this is just how it's...

Newest iDMSS app 4.40.000 is borken

@bigredfish Ok, when I choose "Normal", I see a green time line with grey markers. Looks like this is where IVS was active. "Smart recording": a grey time line with yellow markers, again indicating IVS events. When I move the time line to watch a specific event, sometimes it jumps to this...

Newest iDMSS app 4.40.000 is borken

@TechBill Thanks & no problem, hopefully it saves some time and frustration in the future if people find this thread. @bigredfish That's exactly what I'm experiencing as well. I just don't know how this is supposed to work. The way you decribe it, is how I remember it once worked in the...

Newest iDMSS app 4.40.000 is borken

@catcamstar Your post encouraged me to spend some more time on this issue. Tried lots of things (including re-installing the app), but finally I found the solution. If anybody runs into the same issue, here's how it works. In the NVR is a setting 'Maximum connection' (Network -> Connections)...

Newest iDMSS app 4.40.000 is borken

V4.60.001 (released yesterday/today) still doesn't work for me. Cams stay black most of the time. Didn't even try the other features. Evocam got an update as well and has also become useless. Still wondering if this has anything to do with my NVR that might be a CN model... Another NVR that I...

Newest iDMSS app 4.40.000 is borken

Thanks, yes I did. I even removed the app and re-installed it. Works fine, until you stop it and start it again. Then sometimes everything works, but most of the time only a few cams are displayed correctly. Most cams show a Connection Failed message. Frustrating to see that they are working...

Newest iDMSS app 4.40.000 is borken

And... we're now at V4.50.000 (iDMSS - IOS). Only when I go to NVR settings and then to Start Live Mode, I always see all available cams. Going to favorite cams right after starting the app, is still unsuccessful for me most of the time.

Newest iDMSS app 4.40.000 is borken

App is updated again: V4.41.001 Live viewing is still not 100% working. Yesterday it seemed to work well, today when i start the app (IOS), it shows just some of the available cams or it just crashes. I recently purchased and installed some Dahua equipment for a friend from Andy and although...

Newest iDMSS app 4.40.000 is borken

Playback, especially IVS, has been unstable/inconsistent to me. Sometimes it works fine, then the next event is skipped, etc. Only normal playback seems to work all the time.

Looks like it works much better than the previous versions though. I stopped & restarted the app many times in the past hours and only 1 time it didn't display all cams correctly. I haven't set up any push notifications currently.

A memory leak would make sense. When I run iDMSS Lite it will only work correctly after manually stopping the iDMSS Plus app that was used a minute earlier. When it's still active, the lite version has the same issues.

Newest iDMSS app 4.40.000 is borken

Thanks @TechBill , that's good to know. Apparently it also works if you use P2P, but that's not an option for me (and probably for many others).

Newest iDMSS app 4.40.000 is borken

I wonder what's taking them so long to fix this... How difficult can it be for a major company that must have so many expertise & experience. Personally (if I would be responsible for this) I'd roll back asap this app so everybody would be able to use it again. Not the best solution, but at...

Newest iDMSS app 4.40.000 is borken

V4.40.001 is still not working for me (IOS). Most of the time, only a few cams can be viewed, the others are dark. After restarting the app, 99% chance that no cams work at all. Evoplus works fine every time...

And hopefully they think about a new test procedure. Can't believe that this happens to an app that must be in use by so many users.

Dahua gDMSS / iDMSS Plus free in the app stores.

I got the message as well, I'm now using iDMSS Plus and gDMSS Plus instead of the Lite versions. Both are running fine and stable and I particularly like the IVS push notifications. What's a bit annoying, is that when you receive a push notification and you press it, the app starts and shows the...

    Watercolor effect

As tangent mentioned, this is probably caused by a high WDR setting. When I started using Dahua cams, I discovered that WDR is a very useful feature. It solves high contrast issues where other cameras produced poor images. But -as with most settings- set it too high and you get strange results...

How Loud Are Your PTZ Cameras

I worked with some PTZs in the past, not Dahua though. Never noticed any noise, except when you pan, tilt or zoom of course. Assuming (for now) that this is not normal behaviour, I would think that it's something with the power supply (50 or 60 Hz ripple) that causes the electronics or motors...

Dahua NVR how to check login attempts

The URL you mentioned says this: 13. Check the Log: ● If you suspect that someone has gained unauthorized access to your system, you can check the system log. The system log will show you which IP addresses were used to login to your system and what was accessed. ● Instructions...

Dahua NVR how to check login attempts

It works as expected. 6 Cams connected, 4 local and 2 via WAN, recording 24/7 on a 6 TB WD Purple HDD without issues. The first weeks I've changed a lot of settings, now I only check recordings/IVS events every couple of days through the app on my phone or tablet. So yes, I would recommend it.

NVR not automatically overwriting old files

The alert is not activated on my NVR, since I was pretty sure it would use 100% of the HDD capacity. I get your point about the implementation, but if you look at it like a programmer does, it does exactly what it needs to do. The NVR works nice here, stable and without any issues. Except event...

    Lens fog

I'm definitely not an expert on this matter, but without a color indicator, it's hard to tell. Weighing the silica when it's new and after a while should theoretically tell you how much water is absorbed, but the difference in weight is probably very small (after all you have just a few grams of...

    Lens fog

I'd advise to leave the 5231 closed, if it works, don't fix it. Drying the cam with warm (not hot) air like you did, sounds like a good idea. Let it cool down a bit, then insert a small dessicant bag and close carefully. The reason I would go for a small bag, is that a bigger bag will hide...

    Lens fog

The Dahua dome cams I have (4431R-AS / 5231R-Z), all have desiccant bags inside, either close to the transparent dome (on the metal base) or inside the camera module in the black plastic part that contains the video sensor. You can see the bags or hear them (sounds like shaking dry rice) when...

Dahua NVR how to check login attempts

I own a Dahua 4108-P-4KS2 NVR and I'm trying to find a way to check if there are any failed logins. I have forwarded a port to this NVR temporarily, to give somebody access for testing purposes. This creates a security risk and although I've used a strong password, I'd still want to keep an eye...

NVR not automatically overwriting old files

Well it took quite a bit longer than the "few days" I expected, but it finally happened: the HDD is full. Space left: 0.00 MB. No error messages/alerts, nothing weird. Oldest files are overwritten automatically by newer files.

IPC-HDW4233C-A does it need a separate power supply?

VPN is the safer way to go, but of course you still need to connect them to the internet. You just don't forward any ports (which is a good idea anyway). If you know how to set up a VPN connection, I'd recommend this method. (Maybe your modem/router supports VPN or use a Raspberry PI to set up...

IPC-HDW4233C-A does it need a separate power supply?

Looks like you solved the image size issue. What was the solution? My cams are connected to the NVR and it's connected to the internet. I need to access my NVR remotely. If you don't need this, you can keep it offline. The events will create markers on the time line of the NVR, I'm pretty sure...
