Dahua XVR died, what to replace it with?

I have 9 old BNC analog cameras that I had connected to a Dahua XV$, but it suddenly went black. Neither the HDMI or VGA output have any signal. Does Dahua still make XVRs or any other brand to connect, display, and record 9 BNC cameras?

Wife-pleasing IP PoE indoor camera 2018?

Is the Annke / Hikvision wall-mountable without sticking out? Does it work with Dahua NVRs? The IPC-C35 isn't bad, but I want PoE, not wifi. My ideal esthetic is something like a flush-mounted glass break sensor. Like this photo (which is not a camera).

Wife-pleasing IP PoE indoor camera 2018?

Thanks. I was thinking something that looks like these flat types: https://www.amazon.com/ANNKE-Impressive-Detection-Progressive-connection/dp/B01EL3Y1YM/ Is there anything like that which can play nice with Dahua cameras and the Dahua NVR?

Wife-pleasing IP PoE indoor camera 2018?

I'm looking for an IP, PoE, indoor, Dahua NVR compatible camera that looks great. I seem to remember seeing something really sleek and nearly flat, but can't seem to find it now. One location is for a ceiling mount, and one is wall mount. Any suggestions? Thank you!

    Dahua XVRs

I'm not seeing too much info on XVRs. I guess they're quite new? I have 9 old analog cameras at work which were connected to a SWANN DVR using BNC cables. The DVR died. I'd like to keep the old cameras and maybe add some IP Cameras slowly. I looked on Empire Technology Co., Ltd - Small...

    Opening Ports vs VPN

The behavior is the same on wifi or on cell. I can connect to the VPN no problem but cannot receive any services coming from behind the VPN. I'm sure I'm doing something else wrong. I will fiddle with the settings and see what I can come up with.

    Opening Ports vs VPN

Thank you, that helps a ton. I will refocus my bug tracking to something other than IP conflicts. I'll report back when I learn more.

    Opening Ports vs VPN

I'm having a bit of a conceptual problem with using a VPN. If work is 192.168.0.xxx and home is also on 192.168.0.xxx then a VPN connection doesn't allow home to see any devices at work. This is using Macs. Google searching seems to say that different networks are needed on the Mac (but not...

New Home - First Security System

Oh thanks for the tip. I was thinking more of lights inside the house when motion occurs outside. But how long does the camera (starlight turret) take to adjust if the light is in direct view?

New Home - First Security System

Thanks for the advice randy. I would really like to learn more before committing to a system. Ideally, I'd want something maximally secure and maximally convenient. I know those two are opposing forces. I'm looking for something to take Dahua camera / NVR motion detection and turn on my...

New Home - First Security System

You certainly can connect an ethernet cable from the camera to the NVR if you have Power over Ethernet ports on the NVR. Many users do this, but some users prefer the non-PoE NVR and connect the camera to a PoE switch first and the switch to the NVR. The junction box is to add convenience for...

New Home - First Security System

Sorry for the hijack merkaba, I figured 2 birds with one stone. I know you weren't asking me, randytsuch, but I also prefer wired over wireless. I've wired all my doors and windows with magnets. I have all the wires coming into a closet. However I have not decided on what system to use. I...

New Home - First Security System

Awesome. #2 probably would achieve the cleanest result, but like you said, locks you in. I can imagine needing to change the box in the future would be a mess. #3 sounds functional but potentially unesthetic with a rectangular box for a round camera. #1 would add some distance to the camera...

New Home - First Security System

Thanks mat200! Your explanation is extremely helpful. For a new construction exterior wall, the junction box would screw onto wood, and then stucco (or other finishes) around it, I assume. For the wall mount, how would that work? Attach directly onto stucco? I don't see any finish lines on...

New Home - First Security System

Thanks for all the great information! What is the purpose of the wall mount (PFB203W | Dahua Technology - Dahua Technology)? Is it for cosmetic reasons only? The turrets can be mounted both vertically or horizontally with equal function I believe. So what benefit does the PFB203W wall mount...
