Hikvision Motion Detection Event Settings Getting Reset

This happens when you use more than one interface to control settings. For example Synology SS, iVMS and camera (browser based) UI. Also, if using Synology SS, there is an option of preserving camera settings.

Basic questions from new Hikvision owner in USA

You don't really need any Hikvision tools. All cameras have pretty good web interface that you can use to manage all features. No need to litter your machine... :)

WTS Hikvision DS-7608NI-SE/P Series 8-Channel Network Video Recorder (No HDD)

Looking at the specs for DS-7608NI-SE/P, there are apparently versions that have only 4 POE ports. Does this one have 4 or 8?

WTS Hikvision DS-7608NI-SE/P Series 8-Channel Network Video Recorder (No HDD)

Would this NVR work well with five 3M cams? Does it require US versions of cameras? I have 5 Hikvision DS-2CD2032-I cameras (four with V5.2.0 build 140721, one V5.2.5 build 141201) all are originally Chinese editions flashed to English (intl) firmware. Will this be a problem?

Neighbor's wheels got stolen. Here's the (poor) footage of the perp's car.

To get a better night vision you would have to significantly increase your budget :) 3Mbps Hikvisions are about $100 so you cannot expect very good low light performance without some help (more light) You could get a spot or flood IR lamp.

best way to setup further from house

I would just run CAT 5e or 6 cable and use POE for power.

    DS-2CD2032-I uptime

Maybe I have the "49 day" special ones :) I'll keep an eye on this and report later.

    DS-2CD2032-I uptime

Right unsigned int. I got four cameras that mysteriously froze within minutes of each other in the order they were plugged in... Just happened that a little over a month ago I replaced the POE switch. I setup a watch dog (Ubiquiti TS-8-PRO switch) to bounce the power if it doesn't get reply.

    DS-2CD2032-I uptime

Ok. A little over 49 days would make sense. It seems like there is something overflowing in the software. It just happens that unsigned long can hold number of milliseconds for about 49 days... I will set a watch dog and will know for sure (in 49 days :)

    Hikvision DS-7608NI-E2/8P

Loud fans is not a problem since this will be in the attic. My main concern is that the cameras were originally Chinese firmware. Also, the spec for the NVR states 8 channels at 720p and 6 channels at 1080p. How about the 3M resolution? (The full resolution of DS-2CD2032-I)

    Hikvision DS-7608NI-E2/8P

I would like to replace my current NVR (Synology Surveillance Station) with Hikvision DS-7608NI-E2/8P-2TB (from bhphotovideo.com) and would like to get your opinions. I have 5 Hikvision DS-2CD2032-I cameras (four with V5.2.0 build 140721, one V5.2.5 build 141201) all are originally Chinese...

    Poor night light

What you see is a motion blur caused by exposure time being too high. Set it to at least to 1/30 (gain 100%) If the image is too dark, you will need more light (maybe external IR illuminator)

    FPS and bitrate

For now, I'm leaving it at 8 fps / 8 i-frame and 4096 bps VBR. It is really a problem only at night. Seems there is really no good solution other than higher fps and higher bit rate.

    FPS and bitrate

My old settings were 4fps/4iframe at 4096bps. The quality was OK (no pulsating/judder) but I wanted a little more fps. After setting it to 8fps/8iframe I can see the judder. No matter what I set the fps/iframe, there is always some judder. The only way I was able to get rid of it was setting the...

    FPS and bitrate

One thing I noticed is that there is some "pulsating" in the stream. What do you guys set the Iframe interval to? With 10fps should it be set to 10?
  20. L

    FPS and bitrate

Ok, looking at that, if I choose 8fps, the default bit rate (4096bps) should be plenty. Does that seem right?

    FPS and bitrate

I got a couple of 2CD2032 cameras and was wondering what settings to use. Mine are set to 10fps and VBR bitrate with max set at 8192.

    5.2.3 and 5.2.5 Release notes

Where can I get 5.2.3 and 5.2.5 Release notes? I have four cameras with 5.2.0 firmware and just got a new one with 5.2.5. Everything works fine for now but I would like to know what, if anything, changed.

    PoE switch/smart switch

I used TP-LINK TL-SG1008P for 4 Hikvision cameras with no problems even though it was in the attic (max temp I measured was ~125°F) I just replaced it with Ubiquiti TOUGHSwitch (TS-8-PRO) since I needed more POE ports. TOUGHSwitch is also rated for -25 to 55°C (-13 to 131° F)

    Hikvision outdoor install

Depends on camera. I use "Intrusion detection." (Hikvision DS-2CD2032-I cameras) Motion detection was giving me many false alarms. Intrusion detection may not be available on all cameras.

    Hikvision outdoor install

I have DS713+ and I like it. Just updated to DSM 5.2 and thinking about upgrading hard drives. SurveillanceStation is OK, though more Windows friendly than I would like (running linux on my desktops) Good thing is that you get two camera licenses included.
