The switch will run the cameras on a short 7ft cable....Just not on my long runs....Tried a second POE+ switch as well. Same result

Yup...We thought of that as well. Tried it with one of the long runs....Would pass info and packets to laptop but cannot recognize/initialize cameras. At this point I think that it DOES need to be recabled though....Possibly I pulled the runs too tightly or somehow got a kink. But it just...

I hear where you are coming from.....a) I'm not using an NVR. Rather a stand-alone POE+ switch b) It's an unmanaged switch so there are no port assignments as long as devices are plugged into one of the 12 POE+ ports and not the 12 non POE ports. c) I can use a short cable in ANY POE port and...

Yup..Actually did that last night while on site using a completely different POE+ switch and made a new short cable. Same result.

All cables passed muster with my Klein Tools cable tester and my laptop will work for data transmission on all POE runs as mentioned in my initial post. As for the network topology...It's fairly simple....From my patch panel I've got a cable (existing, not one that I made) running to a non POE...

Hmmmm......This seems to have some promise to it. The switch is adequate as I am not even close to loading it. There are only 12 POE+ ports on it and I am using 6 of those for cameras at this location, But I am going to make a 100ft cable here in my shop off the same spool and see what happens.

The cameras have already been configured and tested on the network segment I am using. Can ping and address them on short cables. Just not the long runs..

    POE issues

Sorry, I've updated the post to include cable brand and specs that I used along with a link to the product brochure. I used the standard 568B for termination of the connectors. All cables passed muster with my Klein Tools cable tester and my laptop will work for data transmission on all runs as...

    POE issues

I purchased 12 cameras from Andy for a customer of mine. When I went to install at one location I was able to connect them and configure them as needed when sitting next to the Linksys LGS124P switch using a short CAT5E cable. However, on all of my cable runs, which range from 50ft to 250ft, I...

Dahua PDN22T204GN not functioning as intended

I have a customer with an older PTZ cam that is randomly moving the camera to the edge of it's axis and then just sitting there and then will not respond for a period of time. I took the camera back to my shop, hooked it up to my network and factory reset it. I am still getting random dropouts...
