Yeah, I saw. Was worth a shot before contacting tech support.

5.2.8 - May 20, 2020 - Direct-to-disc BVR recording will now include metadata for video overlays

Did you ever get this figured out? I've been getting them for a long time, finally annoyed as to what they are and how to fix it.

    Windows VM GPU recommendations

The more I think about it, the majority of that overhead is most likely because of constant array access (24/7 recording) that my other VMs aren't doing.

    Windows VM GPU recommendations

I set it lower. Got VM CPU usage down to 5%. Still really odd about overall usage. BI VM ups usage to 20% from 6% even though windows shows 5%, 10% is going somewhere. Regardless, guess I don't need a GPU afterall. Appreciate the help.

    Windows VM GPU recommendations

So pretty much same setup as mine. Oddly, it does report 10-12% usage now after playing with some of the VM settings and doing another restart. There just seems to be a 5-10% discrepancy. 5-7% load with two other VMs running and BI off. 22-25% with all 3 running. BI VM reports 10-12%. I can deal...

    Windows VM GPU recommendations

Yes, sub streams are enabled. 720, 1kbr, 15fps I agree, the 8500k isn't new. this system has been used as a bare metal since 2018 but just now converted to a vm host to consolidate some other desktops I've been running on the network.

    Windows VM GPU recommendations

So as to make sure this is read. CPU optimizations have already been done per the wiki. Intel quicksync is not an option. I'm currently running multiple VMs in unraid. One of which is my BI machine. A few months ago I decided to consolidate several of my bare metal machines into one server. the...

    Dahua - Unifi USG VLAN

I do the same as you. Vlan specific to all cameras + NVR. Camera firewall rules are switch port based to drop all traffic except to the USG for NTP sync. NVR port shares the same rules as the main network vlan.

Blue Iris 4 to 5 Migration Guide

So you've never heard of Office 365? Many softwares do this. It's called annual license or perpetual license. It's cheaper annually because if you stop paying it stops working usually. If you buy it once you own it forever but support is on a time limit. Hence why it's more expensive.

    Review-Dahua DB-11 Video Door Bell

Can't speak for all companies but most do way more testing than you realize. Unfortunately it's difficult to test in all environments that a device may see. Not all power sources are equal, not all Wifi sources are equal, etc. etc. But that's the beauty of firmware updates.

LATE LATE LATE shipment and to wrong address

Being a project manager I can say your post reads like a total trunk slammer. If you ever want to run a successful business here's a few things you need to know. 1) Don't commit to a client a short deadline without having parts in hand. Maybe if you know they're on shelf items locally. I've...

    UI3 on Raspberry Pi 3 B vs Raspberry Pi 3 B+

I plan on replacing a couple of my 3s. I was real excited for the Poe until I found out it needed a hat. There are splitters made for the pi that are cheaper and easier to keep the height profile of the pi down.

    Shielded cat6 cable

Lol. Again, look up ground loops. The reason why the APs have shielded connectors is so that the end user has a choice as to where they want the shield side grounded. I didn't bring up lightning strikes...you did. And you referenced it to STP. I corrected you by saying grounding a shield isn't...

    Shielded cat6 cable

Nice picture. Ground loop. Do some research then think about why that AP might have a shield grounded jack. Lightning strikes have nothing to do with shielding. That's the job of the TVSS in line device that should be installed on each run with a proper earth ground. Nope, I'm saying it's...

    Shielded cat6 cable

Terminating both sides creates a ground loop and traps magnetic flux which defeats the purpose. I think you're reading that diagram wrong. Grounding the device is not the same as grounding the shield. Which doesn't even matter in a home setting and STP is entirely unnecessary.

    Shielded cat6 cable

Cat6 Ethernet Bulk Cable - Solid, 550Mhz, UTP, CMR, Riser Rated, Pure Bare Copper Wire, 23AWG, 1000ft, Blue - Monoprice.com That's all you need. If 1k is too much, select the smaller size. The extra hassle with the "free" cable you have access to isn't worth it.

Blue Iris on an eBay with standard MB

I ran into this when trying to figure out what system I wanted. Yes, all the SFF PCs on ebay, amazon, newegg, etc. are all proprietary boards. I couldn't find a single used/refurb full sized system with a price that made sense. I ended up building an i5-8600k mATX system Cost me about 730...

    WIP installation

They're all CBR H.265. I calculated 3.3T for 14 days of storage (enough to cover a vacation), but I still want to see. I also wanted to see the system's full load and pre configure the other cameras.

Little more progress on the backbone of the system. Needed to upgrade to a new rack with the added gear. This has been a fun justification to nerd out on the home network. Rack mount?

In rack form? Not going to find it. You can buy a used server or you can buy a mATX and buy one of the rack cases on Amazon and swap the guts over to it.

    Rack mount?

I spent 760 on my build. 8th gen i5, 8gb ram, 2x4T purple drives, win 10 pro, no dedicated graphics. My system runs around 20% CPU, 30% ram usage, and at h.265 direct to disc recording, 24/7, 5 cams, in 7 days it's using 1.2T.

    Blue Iris Geofence/Profile Change Issue

Yes, I actually did this. On entry I set it to a temp profile which temp seeing was for 10 mins then it defaults back to schedule. This way if I go in and out I'm not getting alerts about it. Thanks again for the clarification.

    Blue Iris Geofence/Profile Change Issue

Nevermind, it was my issue that the help file wasn't exactly clear about. Geofence inside option was set to "temp" --- Home. So after the 480 min, 8 hours, was up it set itself back to away. I've since made modifications to prevent that from happening again. It just goes back to schedule after...

AV software on Blue Iris PC

Any reason you don't just use windows defender? Far less resource usage than any of the 3rd parties. Can say I've never seen a virus on any of my machines. And my work laptop gets plugged into a lot of different networks.

    Blue Iris Geofence/Profile Change Issue

I've been using the geofencing feature of the iOS app and I've been nothing but happy. However, I had an issue this morning. While still in bed, phone not in low power mode and charged, I woke up to an alert. I have two profiles: Home, Away. So the phone was obviously still inside the fence and...
