Thanks, TonyR, for providing a comprehensive post addressing the issue.

Blank circle on camera images-problem with camera?

The spot has been there since the camera was installed last December (2017). Yes, I have looked at the camera lens but perhaps not closely enough. I will examine it again. If there is condensation on the inside of the camera: can it be removed? Or would it be grounds for replacing the camera...

Blank circle on camera images-problem with camera?

One of my DS 2CD2342WD-I cameras produces images that have a blank spot. The security company cleaned the camera lens (using damp paper tissues) but the spot remains. The cameras were installed in December 2017 to replace cameras that had developed faults. The blank spot is visible at the...

Hikvision NVR DS-7608-NI-I2/8P. Duplication of files; frame rate settings

Thanks, fenderman. Could you name the alternative methods so I can search for them and do some reading.

Hikvision NVR DS-7608-NI-I2/8P. Duplication of files; frame rate settings

Yes, I'd assumed I'd have the same control of the cameras. It appears, however, I can't run/view diagnostic logs...and now it turns out I can't alter the I-Frame interval--which means the system is set to 15fps and not full frame. And one part of the system shows two recorded files for each...

Hikvision NVR DS-7608-NI-I2/8P. Duplication of files; frame rate settings

According to the user manual at https://www.surveillance-video.com/media/lanot/attachments/customimport/DS-7608NI-I2-8P-User-Manual.pdf Dual Stream: Dual stream is a technology used to record high resolution video locally while transmitting a lower resolution stream over the network. The two...

Hikvision NVR DS-7608-NI-I2/8P. Duplication of files; frame rate settings

Strange. Completely different interface. How could the same model be so different...? I can see you have the system set for recording motion events, and set to"double stream". Same here. I can look at files in Playback or in File Management. The former NVR had Playback and Export (no File...

Hikvision NVR DS-7608-NI-I2/8P. Duplication of files; frame rate settings

That is concerning. Do you have the same Storage-->Recording Schedule-->Advanced as I posted in my above post? Is your system set to the same settings? Could you post a screenshot/s of Record parameters and maybe File Management? I'm interested in seeing the differences, and seeing the settings...

Hikvision NVR DS-7608-NI-I2/8P. Duplication of files; frame rate settings

Thanks for that. The duplicate files appear only in File Management, not in Playback, which is odd in itself. A few questions: Is "dual stream" the default setting? Is it necessary to have it set to "dual stream"? As I understand it, the sub-stream creates images/files to send to the web...

Hikvision NVR DS-7608-NI-I2/8P. Duplication of files; frame rate settings

In December 2017, the security company that installed my original camera system replaced the original 3x 3 MP cameras and NVR with 3x new 4 MP cameras and a new NVR. There were problems with the NVR (noted in an earlier thread Ghosting; clock feezing then jumping forward). The security company...

Ghosting; clock feezing then jumping forward

The security company attended. Their suggested fix: lower the frame rate to 15fps. I suspected lowering the frame rate would make no difference. They lowered the frame rate. It made no difference. After some discussion, they replaced the DS-7604-NI-K1/4P with a newer model DS-7608-NI-I2/8P...

Ghosting; clock feezing then jumping forward

I had been wondering if I should upload images of the system settings. The system is not connected to the 'net. I'll take photos of the monitor showing the settings and upload them. Probably not today as today is proving hectic. Thanks for that.

alastairstevenson, could I possibly trouble you for an opinion/suggested remedy? Thanks. Can't send you a PM as I can't find a PM facility on the site.

In that case, I can't look at it. Shame.

That's useful. Different model, different features, I suppose. I can't find anything remotely like that in this NVR.

This NVR has Maintenance->Log information, then the general log I've described above. I've looked throughout the menu and can't find anything that gives the opportunity to diagnose (other than packet loss test, in Network--but I can't run that sort of packet loss test as the system is not...

Ghosting; clock feezing then jumping forward

fenderman, thanks. I can't think how the problem could be the cables--unless there was suddenly some deterioration (instantly, the minute the new NVR was installed). The original camera system worked perfectly for nearly three years until two of the cameras developed problems with their IR. The...

Ghosting; clock feezing then jumping forward

Vico, where can I find that log? I've found a general log in Maintenance->Log information. It logs events such as "start recording", "stop recording" and many other things...but none of the info you've shown in your post. fenderman, thanks for your suggestions. I can't get my money back. The...

Ghosting; clock feezing then jumping forward

The longest cable is perhaps 12 metres. Nothing has changed (with the cables). The only change is the new NVR. The two former NVRs did not have this problem. The security company says it is "interference". I find that a bit odd. (Why did the interference start the minute this NVR was installed...?)

Ghosting; clock feezing then jumping forward

Sincere thanks, alastairstevenson, fenderman, Bink, Vico, TJ01. Your comments and suggestions were very helpful and enabled me to make some cogent points to the security company. They eventually replaced the NVR. New NVR: Hikvision DS-7604 NI-K1/4P. The security company said I requested this...

Ghosting; clock feezing then jumping forward

This is alarming. Did you purchase a 'gray import' or the 'official' product? Thanks for the suggestion but I'm reluctant to lower the quality of images on any of the cameras. The system was installed after having home security issues. I've once supplied footage to the police (footage of an...

Ghosting; clock feezing then jumping forward

Thanks, Alastair. I logged in and looked at Maintenance-->System Info-->Record. The frame rate for the three cameras is 1/16 fps. The frame rate for the unused channels (displayed in paler, gray text) is 25 fps. Not sure I can look for that. I'm limited by having access only via Admin login.

Ghosting; clock feezing then jumping forward

As I understand it, turning off H.264+ / H.265+ encoding would result in files taking up more space on the HDD. What part of the system do I need to access to turn off H.264+ / H.265+ encoding? (I can log in as Admin and change settings there, if that's what's needed.)

Ghosting; clock feezing then jumping forward

Thank you, all, for your suggestions. Can you give me some idea of the range it at which it should be set? It looks as if I am going to have to tell the security company what the problems are and how to fix them. I had wondered if there was a problem with the HDD in the NVR. Other problems...

Ghosting; clock feezing then jumping forward

Actually, I was wondering if the exposure rate of the cameras is synched with the exposure rate in the NVR. Could that be causing the problems? Also, I've read elsewhere online that the 4 MP cameras can have ghosting if the DNR is set too high. Any thoughts? Thanks for your suggestions.

I have 3 Hikvision 4 MP cameras (DS-2CD2342WS-I) connected to an NVR (7616-NI-SP). This is an offline system, not connected to the net. This is a replacement system, installed by the security company to replace the previous system (3 MP cameras connected to a 7606 NVR - two of the cameras...
