    5.8.8 - March 4, 2024

Same problem with 5.8.8.latest. First time the entire PC locked up and I had to force a power off and restart. Seven and nine days later the PC restarted after running out of virtual memory - somewhere around 80 GB. Both time the committed memory was less than 12 GB and holding steady the...

    New Install Camera Identification conundrum

I go one step further and place the cameras and the BI PC on a separate subnet. Everything on this subnet is static. Firewall rules allow the BI PC to have normal access off the subnet and the cameras can access a couple of specific computers and a NAS in another subnet. All other access to...

    Overexposure with IPC-Color4K-T

I have not seen these posts - will try to search for them. Do the Color4K bullets have the same problem? It's a shame because the Color4K-T is so close to being perfect for this - maybe one or two stops.

    Overexposure with IPC-Color4K-T

Tried highlight, WDR, and SSA. None of them helped with the blown highlights. At this point I believe the only thing that will help this camera is a neutral density filter. :( Sorta defeats the purpose of having great night vision! I may have to switch to one of my older cameras, maybe a...

How to setup IVS tripwire in these areas?

If you look at the live view you can see how the camera detects motion and how the motion interacts with your triggers. Start with a single tripwire. You'll see that IVS draws a box around the detected motion. Only when the center of the box crosses your tripwire does the trigger get...

    Best CCTV Fails

Of course he took off. He didn't want Amazon to know - he might get fired. I wonder what happened to him after I gave my neighbor videos including from my license plate reader. I believe Amazon paid in full and then some. My neighbor sure is happy with his new Tesla.

    Best CCTV Fails

Another Amazon mishap. This is after he walked between the car and his truck two minutes earlier. My neighbor was happy that I had videos. Somehow that little dent was expensive enough that Amazon bought the car. He now drives a Tesla.

Break time- Max trigger alert duration

When I was playing with clones I had the original camera recording continuously and the clone recording only when triggered. Not ideal but it worked for me. I have since stopped needing to use clones. Hopefully someone else knows how to properly set this up without redundant recordings.

    Review: IDahua DH-ITC-437-PW6M-IZ-GN / LPR-437 - ALPR/ANPR - Traffic & Access Control Camera

I use my two 437s with BI. Acts very much like an ordinary camera except the license plates are much better at night than I was able to ever get with the 5231-Z12s. The cameras are sending images to a Synology NAS ftp server with the license plate information included as part of the file name...

What motivated you to get started

My daughter had a bad breakup with her boy friend. Got some Arlo (Pro?) cameras to to watch over her car and our property. Never had any problems with the ex-boyfriend but he turned out to be very expensive and started my camera addiction. IP Cam Talk was the enabler that made my addiction...

    Changing camera recording locations

What is the best practice when changing BI’s recording location for some cameras? I had an external (eSATA) drive enclosure die...

BI bogging down after being busy

I removed limit decoding from all cameras and plan to keep it off. It was on only for cameras that used only ONVIF triggers and not BI's motion detection, only ONVIF triggers. The only difference I see is the quiescent load in BI went from around 3-5% up to 7-10%. Small enough not to matter...

Poor IR contrast in new Tennessee license plates

My 437s might miss one cars a night. Usually it is a newer car with LED headlights. The light barely show up in the IR and the car appears as a black shadow. Apparently the camera does not start looking for a license plate until it sees motion and a vehicle. Just my guess. I have two 437s...
