    User-friendly NVR and remote viewing?

I'm still running the same setup (Dahua NVR5216-4KS2 and several IPC-HDW5442T-ZE) I am considering Ubiquiti's platform as they finally opened it up to ONVIF support. UniFi Camera Security - Ubiquiti It's something to consider as more features are added. The lack of internet may still be workable...

DMSS mobile app thumbnail images - supported?

@EMPIRETECANDY Nobody has found a way to have the desired event thumbnails (or snapshots) appear in the DMSS app. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Upgraded firmware. No joy. Has anyone ever gotten it to work and has pictures to prove it?

Are Dahua NVR event 'thumbnail images' visible on any mobile apps?

I'd recently asked 'Andy' about firmware for the cameras and noted they were named as "EmpireTech" filename: EmpireTech IPC-HX5XXX-Volt_MultiLang_NP_Stream3_V2.840.15OG00D.0.R.220818. IPC-T5442T-ZE This led me to wonder if I should never apply what's on dahua's site vs. what he sold to me...

Yes to all steps. (and very well documented by the way - thank you).

I've completed the steps outlined, but still don't see unique thumbnails as hoped for. Any other suggestions?

    User-friendly NVR and remote viewing?

This may be the most straightforward advice I've seen here. Agreed, non-standard ports are just a speed bump. I feel better about the P2P now. As I recall, there was a vulnerability with Dahua that allowed multiple login attempts on a port (37777) perhaps?

    User-friendly NVR and remote viewing?

Glad you bring that up. Given the drumbeat of distrust and security concerns in these forums, I opted to not use a 'cloud account', and benefits were unclear to me. Perhaps that was the missing link. Thank you for mentioning it. At the moment, I have P2P, upnp, multicast, etc. turned off. My...

    User-friendly NVR and remote viewing?

Personally, no way I'd go to a cloud solution. But that's a separate need. The non-profit I'm helping would have one-time costs covered by a grant. A recurring cost cloud business model isn't supportable. Example: They could spend $2000 to get a decent setup, but would hope to have usable...

    User-friendly NVR and remote viewing?

@steve1225 that was an excellent video. It confirmed that the OS is the same, with new features added. And for working from the NVR directly, there are powerful options available. Back to my original question on recommending options for a very small non-profit... AND - to clarify the goal...

    User-friendly NVR and remote viewing?

Oh I've had much effort put forth over years. It works. The direct attached experience is far better than the mobile access options. and that's where I'd like to see improvements. Specifically, the event thumbnails are excellent - but only accessible in the direct access view.

    User-friendly NVR and remote viewing?

I purchased it in 2020 from Andy. As I recall at that time it was the current model. Now this makes we want to look into current NVRs but I haven't found a web demo of the interface/improvements. This is encouraging!

    User-friendly NVR and remote viewing?

I understand your point of view as a commercial business, but this is a volunteer effort for a non-profit. I'm determining options and budget, and setting expectations accordingly. Nowhere did I define expectations as 'constant updates and will work forever' - nor do they expect that. As to...

At what point did Dahua NVRs become 'quite good'? And did firmware updates resolve the past issues?

    User-friendly NVR and remote viewing?

I've been tasked to recommend a small setup for a non-profit, likely 3-4 cameras max. Personally, I run a Dahua NVR5216-4KS2 and several IPC-HDW5442T-ZE (from Andy). The cameras are fantastic, but I've never 'mastered' the NVR. The interface seems like a prettied up version of systems I set up...

    Unresponsive IPC-T5442T-ZE

I used the same cable, but cut off the bad external connector. It works (for now)

    Unresponsive IPC-T5442T-ZE

SOLVED Sharing solution for others. The interface cable itself was bad. This is a weak point in the design, as I've had others do the same. To test the theory, I swapped the cable with an Amcrest (lower quality Dahua), same cable. Then I cut off the bad Ethernet socket and installed a standard...

Yes, I should have specified - I removed it from the installed location and connected directly to switch trying several different cables.

    Unresponsive IPC-T5442T-ZE

Purchased from Andy a couple of years ago and it has been working well since. Recently, I noticed it no longer appeared in the NVR. The clues: It powers up on PoE connection, or via DC adapter and IR illuminators turn on in darkness. Switch shows PoE powered, but no link light Reset attempts...

    Dahua NVR, IVS snapshot option

So glad you took the time to detail what has worked and what hasn't. It's baffling to me that snapshots of filtered activity are not a feature. Most would like to have an 'at a glance' view of the day's events. You're the first person to actually tackle the problem head-on... thank you! I have...

    Dahua NVR, IVS snapshot option

I have similar questions - have posted several times, but have unfortunately never heard of a solution. It seems like a reasonable expectation of an NVR, and the interface even shows snapshots of events - yet those snapshots are not available on mobile apps, and difficult to set up (impossible...

DMSS w/Dahua DVR Video Clips - are thumbs an option?

So, specific to the app view - no thumbnails? It appears the app was designed to include them given the use of a placeholder image. I'd be curious to know is Blue Iris includes this. Thank you.

DMSS w/Dahua DVR Video Clips - are thumbs an option?

Dahua DVR has thumbnail images of triggering event, which is useful and exactly what I would expect. However neither DMSS nor iDMSS Plus apps (iPhone) show thumbs, only a default placeholder image. Has anyone found a mobile app that can/does show the thumbnails or even managed to get to them...

Tutorials For Setup of Dahua cameras?

I completely agree with your findings (or the lack thereof). PROS Dahua cameras are of good quality in build and images. Feature rich - on par with other brands. Fair pricing through 'grey market' resellers like Andy (he's very good in response / fast shipping as well) CONS Positioned solely...

    Dahau video clip 'placeholder' thumbnails

NVR5216-16P-4KS2E Using DMSS HD app on iPhone and iPad. The playback interface implies that representative thumbnails can populate the events, vs. default thumbnail. I've never found a way to accomplish this. Anyone found a way to accomplish it or is it even a feature? As I see representative...
