    TinyCam Pro w/ 2019 Amazon Fire 7 and IPC-HFW5231E-Z & HDW5231R-Z

Do you know if custom URL can be pointed to substream 2 on Dahua cams? I was able to get tinycam connected to main or substream 1 but could not get it to connect to substream 2 I had substream 2 enabled on cam settings, substream 1 enabled and disabled, tintycam stream profile sub or auto -...

Can you see what automatic settings camera is using?

I often find camera's auto exposure setting does a very good job and I end up wondering what shutter speed, aperture, etc it uses depending on the lightning conditions. is there any way to overlay that info or see it somewhere? Dahua 5231rze running March 2019 update.

    Review-Dahua IPC-HDW2231RP-ZS Starlight Camera-Varifocal

From personal experience, a lot of properly positioned white light. I added two of these above front garage and still struggled getting a decent moving target video/snapshot. Lights are very bright so i initially turned them towards the ground as much as possible while still having enough...

Are Dahua vari-focal lenses constant aperture?

that could very well be the case.

    Thief arrested

Mine is higher, right under soffit above garage doors but i run it in forced color mode so it should not be affected by IR. I suppose height/DOF could have something to do with it but it will depend whether aperture is fixed or variable on this camera, something i still didn't figure/find out...

Are Dahua vari-focal lenses constant aperture?

Now that i think about it, i believe there is auto-iris on/off button in 5231 settings. I'll double check it night but maybe that is the answer, if there is auto adjust option that would imply it's variable? i wonder if fixed versions have this option in camera settings, if they do maybe it's...

    Thief arrested

Thanks for the info, much appreciated. That is very crisp image for 1/30 shutter, I've been running mine at 1/100 to help with clarity. I even added two of these: 2200 lumen flood lights above garage doors to try and improve image clarity but it's still not where i think it could be. One of the...

    Thief arrested

@bigredfish are you willing to share camera settings you are using in your second video "Thieves - another angle"? I have similarly placed 5231r ze(which should be pretty much equivalent to yours from what i read) that i am struggling to get anywhere close to your quality. I know there are lots...

Are Dahua vari-focal lenses constant aperture?

+1, wondering the same thing. If so, perhaps fixed lens version of 5231 has an advantage in comparable zoomed in dark scene, it would be interesting to see the results. Is reducing the shutter speed a proper way to compensate for smaller aperture?

Does IR light do anything for a camera in forced color mode?

After recent neighborhood break ins I added two of these above the garage doors to try and improve night captures and use forced color mode. I am still working on getting the settings figured to reduce the blur and increase sharpness but one thing i do notice is that anything outside of the...

Blue Iris 4 to 5 Migration Guide

    1. In my experience version 4 has been a great VMS, hoping version 5 improves upon that 2. I have already invested in it 3. Support community has a vast knowledge of the product and willing to share As a potential customer i would maybe second guess my decision based on these issues, for now...

Blue Iris 4 to 5 Migration Guide

I was under the wrong impression you are, judging by how defensive and knowledgeable you are about the product, ok then noted and good to know. He/they/BlueIris should care because because we, as paying customers, are providing feedback. Again, industry practice, is that publicly available...

Blue Iris 4 to 5 Migration Guide

I find it completely unacceptable for a representative of any software to call his customers low IQ, you should be ashamed. The FACT is that not all Blue Iris customers come to this forum, and they should not be expected to, before performing upgrade that has been made available. FACT is that...

Blue Iris 4 to 5 Migration Guide

I wasn't around for version 4 upgrade, thankfully i guess. To be fair, with current version 4 my experience has been very positive and software stable. That however doesn't change the fact that paid public software used by hundreds, maybe thousands? of people appears appears to be released in...

Blue Iris 4 to 5 Migration Guide

With a buggy release like this it's going to be awhile before faith in BlueIris updates is restored. This was not ready for public yet.
