I get poor quality exports when exporting via the timeline

I received the following support response from Ken: The timeline exports the sub stream in a group view, not the mainstream. Unless ... an individual camera window is larger than the sub stream, then the main stream is used. Usually this means when a single camera is exported from the...

I get poor quality exports when exporting via the timeline

The developers of Blue Iris should add some sort of notice to the title bar displayed along the top of the low res exported timeline video informing the user/viewer that it is a low res export of the timeline's video and thus prevent others from making the same mistake I did.

I get poor quality exports when exporting via the timeline

Correct. If I move the mouse up and place the cursor anywhere within the live video feed and double click, then I can right click and set the Start and End times. So, for me, I have four cams live streaming within Blue Iris and to export in full resolution using the timeline, I double click on...

I get poor quality exports when exporting via the timeline

Yea, you have to double click on a cam to display it solo on screen and then double click on the solo cam again to display the options. So double click, double click again and then the options are displayed.

I get poor quality exports when exporting via the timeline

I know there is an option, I posted an example in my original post. No you cannot. Look at the image in my original post, it is dimmed out and you cannot select or add any start or end times. I know that now that but I had to learn it the hard way.

I get poor quality exports when exporting via the timeline

No there is not! At least there isn't when exporting direct from the timeline bar. If you're going to post about this subject and justify its behaviour, then at least take the time to read the guide about exports (there isn't much to read), try and reproduce the issue I have posted about and...

I get poor quality exports when exporting via the timeline

I can see a use for it if you have multiple cameras displayed within the timeline, but if one has just one camera selected and displayed on screen, should it export at the resolution the camera is set to record at? You can even go into the export settings and alter the quality setting, but doing...

I get poor quality exports when exporting via the timeline

I have sent a support email to Blue Iris with a link to this thread, and I am waiting for a response. I have always exported clips this way and hadn’t noticed the issue until someone pointed out in another post how low res/quality my supposedly 4k clips were.

I get poor quality exports when exporting via the timeline

Well spotted! I wasted hours of my time on this today and I thought I was going crazy!!! I have since found that the exported timeline resolution changes depending on how small, medium or large the Blue Iris timeline video is onscreen at the time of exporting too. Weird huh.

I get poor quality exports when exporting via the timeline

OK, so again I completley removed Blue Iris from my desktop only this time I removed all folders and regisry entries created by the previous installation and setup a new with 5.0.8.13. I'm still getting low quality exports via the timeline with a lower resolution but Alerts export just fine. I...

I get poor quality exports when exporting via the timeline

I just uninstalled Blue Iris and reinstalled it. Now running 5.0.8.13 and I still get the issue?

Hikvision DS-2CD2T86G2-ISU/SL motion blur and ghosting

I have posted a copy of the above post in the Blue Iris section of the community as it deserves it's own thread. Getting back to the issue at hand, I will configure the Camera with the settings posted by @bigredfish and upload the RAW (high quality) export later tonight.

I get poor quality exports when exporting via the timeline

OK, weird but this is what is happening with stable Blue Iris 5.7.9.12 and Beta 5.8.0.12... INFO - My cameras are configured to use a resolution of 3840x2160 at 15fps. If I export/convert a clip by right clicking on an Alert, it exports with the correct resolution of 3840x2160. I cannot...

Hikvision DS-2CD2T86G2-ISU/SL motion blur and ghosting

I cannot get Blue Iris to export in 4K. I have deleted the camera and added it again but it always exports with the following: h264 (Constrained Baseline) (avc1 / 0x31637661), yuvj420p(pc, progressive), 2392x800, 14258 kb/s, 29.89 fps, 30 tbr, 90k tbn (default) I logged into the camera web...

Hikvision DS-2CD2T86G2-ISU/SL motion blur and ghosting

I was just posting with stock default values. This is at 1/100 exposure: I'm only looking to record at 1/50 at night. Just enough to grab an image of someone on the path! No room to run, not interested in passing cars in the street. WTF... Let me check Blue Iris settings.

Hikvision DS-2CD2T86G2-ISU/SL motion blur and ghosting

This what the camera is seeing when set to Day mode at night... Hikvision DS-2CD2T86G2-ISU/SL motion blur and ghosting

Yea, because I returned it back to it's default prior to making my initial post here. I could have easily posted another 20 or 30 variations but wanted to keep things simple. As mentioned previously, already tried 1:1. I will try entering a lower value than the FPS. These are raw exports. The...

Hikvision DS-2CD2T86G2-ISU/SL motion blur and ghosting

I do not want or need an IR illuminator. The camera used in the video(s) above is less than 8-10 meters away from the gate! I need to replace these cameras as they are not fit for the job. My fault, I should have done my research before swapping out the old DS-2CD2T55FW’s. As @wittaj points out...

Hikvision DS-2CD2T86G2-ISU/SL motion blur and ghosting

I had already tried everything you highlighted in bold @Spirch. FYI - I spent a week researching and even used Python and TFTP to downgrade the firmware in a last ditch attempt to try and resolve the blur/ghosting, but that didn’t help either. Ghosting only happens with people, moving or...

Hikvision DS-2CD2T86G2-ISU/SL motion blur and ghosting

A warning to anyone thinking of purchasing these camera… DON’T!!! I purchased these as replacements for five year old DS-2CD2T55FW’s. The DS-2CD2T86G2’s work fine in daylight, but at night you will get severe motion blur and ghosting. While you can reduce it slightly by altering settings you...

Hikvision DS-2CD2T86G2-ISU/SL motion blur and ghosting

I think this is the issue! Tried 16384 at Constant and Variable with Highest, Higher and Medium Video Quality selected and it made no difference and it's definitely the main stream. I'm now running with the following Video settings: Resolution: 3840x2160 FPS: 10 Bitrate Type: 3072 (As per...

Hikvision DS-2CD2T86G2-ISU/SL motion blur and ghosting

I have tried leaving the I-Frame setting at its default value of 50 as well as matching the FPS value but it makes no difference. I have also tried maxing out the bitrate and reducing it slowly and again it doesn’t help. These cameras work well in daylight but at night they are very unusable...

Hikvision DS-2CD2T86G2-ISU/SL motion blur and ghosting

Strange isn't it! The camera is about 8 meters (give a meter or two) away. I can post a picture of it's location tomorrow when I have daylight. Here is another video but this time with the following settings changed: Bitrate Type: Constant Exposure Time: 1/100 Gain: 50 Day/Night Switch: Night...
