Suddenly none of my Amcrest wifi IP cameras will login to the router

Thank you for your reply wittaj. I have egg on my face. I bought a repeater a long while back and routed all the cameras through it and left the other wifi devices connect directly to my router. We must have had a power glitch that scrambled the repeater and I only rebooted the ISP modem and...

Suddenly none of my Amcrest wifi IP cameras will login to the router

I have 2 different model Amcrest IP cameras. They have been working fine for a long time. Today, all of a sudden, none of them can login to the router. These cameras have worked through good and bad weather as well as hot an cold weather. I deleted one camera and tried to add it back but it is...

P2P setup and free cloud storage

Thanks Jack7, Yes, I have 5 cameras, all wifi. Only 4 are for surveillance. I have pondered the idea of the hidden hard-wired NVR so that remains a strong possibility. The biggest drawback is hard work to get power and network cable to the hidden location. :secret: One of my cameras is...

P2P setup and free cloud storage

I may have the wrong idea but I really don't have any video content to 'hide' so there are no privacy issues for me. I totally believe that off site (well outside of the home in my case) is the ONLY answer. If someone did "bad things" to my home, like rob it or some malicious mischief, I want...

P2P setup and free cloud storage

Wow, I didn't think that P2P was going through some foreign cloud, I thought it was just a network communications protocol. I doubt that Amcrest is giving me free cloud service without me even signing up for it or paying anything. As far as "reasonable idea". Since I have nothing to hide but...

P2P setup and free cloud storage

I installed a camera for maintenance reasons in my crawlspace and found out I can be anywhere, even miles away and still view my crawlspace. I was impressed but confused and concerned. I thought it was only accessible from my personal wifi but I guess not. If I'm in a town 20 miles away and...

Update F/W Amcrest IP2M-841 now doesn't recognize password

Had to give up and do the factory reset. Makes sense now as I think of it. :brainfart:

Update F/W Amcrest IP2M-841 now doesn't recognize password

Update... I was mistaken. I still cannot access the camera from the two software programs where I changed the password manually (by typing it in) but I am still able to access it using the "SmartPSS" software which was installed and configured before the F/W update. Unfortunately I do not...

Update F/W Amcrest IP2M-841 now doesn't recognize password

I installed the latest F/W this morning via the web interface which I accessed through the "Web" option in Amcrest Surveillance Pro software. The camera rebooted and I accessed it from the Amcrest Surveillance Pro software afterwards. I could see that the F/W was updated to the correct version...

Chinese camera activated cloud storage, now I can't use my uSD card

Interesting. Are there any tricks to flashing the TM-AC1900 with the RT-AC68U firmware? I ask because some firmware updates check the model they are flashing before writing the new F/W so you don't brick the device.

Chinese camera activated cloud storage, now I can't use my uSD card

mat200, J Sigmo, & Southern Yankee, I guess I've been out of the field for too long. I downloaded OpenVPN installed it and immediately got lost. So, for the time being, I have uninstalled it. I looked at the sample server and client config files and they were over my head for now. I will...

PC Software to work with no-name Chinese camera

------------------------------------------------------- mat200, I actually used the site that you referenced and did not see your link. I was not familiar with how the links show up at this forum and that is my only excuse, albeit a poor one. Mea Culpa. Also, thanks for the Telnet port...

Chinese camera activated cloud storage, now I can't use my uSD card

Southern Yankee, & J Sigmo, I see your points. I will shut it down today. As far as the firmware, isn't this part of what the US Government is showing concern over in Huawei and other Chinese branded phones (and other communications technologies)? With all the hacking going on between the...

PC Software to work with no-name Chinese camera

Oh, OK, I'll try that on my Amcrest. Here (attached screenshot) is the output from this version of FING as run on my Amcrest. I edited out the full device name and MAC address... too much information. I think I will be uninstalling the Chinese no-name camera. Others in this forum have...

PC Software to work with no-name Chinese camera

Oh, I didn't know. Perhaps if you mentioned that or provided a link I would have understood. Here (attached screenshot) is the output of the "NMAP 192.168.1.8" command after installing NMAP V7.70 (the latest stable version). I ran the command with and without the smartphone app running on...

PC Software to work with no-name Chinese camera

TonyR, I installed FING but it seems like a "catch 22". First of all, there is no "Services" command. The app for the Chinese camera is sneaky, you cannot open FING while it is running. In order to do anything with the phone while running the app (IPC360) you must exit IPC360. So, you can't...

Chinese camera activated cloud storage, now I can't use my uSD card

Southern Yankee, & J Sigmo, Thank you for your input, I was getting the feeling that you spelled out clearly. For me, it was truly "security cameras 101" as J Sigmo suggested. I would never "depend" on these cameras for home security, I was just playing with it and I guess I learned a lot...

Chinese camera activated cloud storage, now I can't use my uSD card

I may not be able to continue using my "no-name" Chinese camera unless I can find a work-around for a problem which just cropped up. After registering with the Chinese manufacturer everything was working fine and I wanted to just keep recording to the uSD card I put in the unit. I logged into...

PC Software to work with no-name Chinese camera

Hi mat200, I'm going to need a little more guidance to get the information you require. I have been out of the field for a decade and networks were not my main specialty. I believe NMAP is a Linux command. I'm running Win10 here. I don't recall how to display TCP/IP port or service...

How to reboot a wifi camera (Amcrest IP2M-841B to be exact)

Point taken. It's a situation where the camera is needed sometimes and mostly just sits there. I use it for troubleshooting the machines in my crawlspace because I'm just too old to go down there to check on the function of things down there. I used the camera many, many times while...

How to reboot a wifi camera (Amcrest IP2M-841B to be exact)

Ssayer and TonyR, Let me start by saying the unit is now working like when it was new. Yes, it is connected via WiFi, and it would be very difficult to get it hardwired to RJ45. As I mentioned in my previous reply, I rebooted it and it was still sluggish. Since then I found the circuit...

How to reboot a wifi camera (Amcrest IP2M-841B to be exact)

Well, thanks for the info. It is a bit different for me since I'm using Amcrest Surveillance Pro to control/monitor the camera so the commands are slightly different. I call the camera "Crawlspace9C". I started the Amcrest Surveillance Pro interface and selected "Device". In the device list I...

How to reboot a wifi camera (Amcrest IP2M-841B to be exact)

I have an Amcrest IP2M-841B installed in a tough to reach location. It was working fine and I haven't accessed it in a few weeks. Now it is VERY sluggish. It is updating but it is taking 30 seconds to a minute to complete commands and the clock is only moving sorta when it wants to. At a quick...
