It's a fixed lens. What kind of glue do you use? I was thinking hot glue so it could be popped off without too much trouble when needed. I could bond at the ring edge but risk touching the filter itself. Are you aware if Dahua windows have a coating on outside surface?

I don't know how we could get that info except directly from Dahua. That may be true but doesn't explain how min illum numbers could be identical when Dahua calls both image sensors "1/2.8" STARVIS™ CMOS". I highly doubt they would be swapping complete sensor types when the other indicators...

The sensors are exactly the same. Same type. 1/2.8" starvis.

No, the sensor sizes are the same. For example, the 59232XA-HNR and 59432XA-HNR. Both are 1/2.8" starvis.

I think I'm not communicating my question well. The 4MP sensor is getting less light on each pixel than the 2MP, so the minimum illumination should NOT be the same, yet the spec sheet says it is.

That's the issue. I see 4MP and 2MP sensors that are otherwise exactly the same yet they state the same minimum illumination specs, which doesn't seem possible.

I do use the Schedule Profile for some cameras, but I generally dislike it for two reasons: daylight hours shift through the year, I have plenty of mornings with heavy fog/rain/cloud cover where the camera should stay in B/W longer.

I noticed the function greyed out as well, to my dismay. Seems like the engineers thought it doesn't need to be manually set and let the day/night function figure out whether it's better to keep the IR-cut filter in or not. The way to manually force it is change the mode away from day/night.

I have to say, this is my first 2mp starlight sensor and it's impressive. It's pretty dark out now and it's smoking my older cameras.

Yea, that's the same problem I see. It manually focuses correctly at all zoom levels 0-100%, but autofocuses correctly only between 0-80%.

I can say with certainty that the 2018-12-26 and 2019-01 FW doesn't fix it :) I didn't find this thread until after I received the camera and searched for focus problems. Looks like my only recourse is to return the camera and think about the lower-end 2mp starlight 25x PTZ.

Ok, yea I'm talking about full 100% zoom which is where I need to have this camera set at. Under 80% zoom, autofocus appears to work correctly. I should add that I have multiple Dahua cameras and the 30x PTZ is able to autofocus on the same scene, same time, same field of regard.

What I say autofocus fails, I mean that it conducts the focus sweep, and settles on a focus that is continually off (the focus point is always short of scene). I've tried this on multiple scenes with full sunlight, varying complexity, varying distance, varying contrast objects, with the same off...
