Just a second...I've reread you previous comment (several times). What do you mean by "different P2P servers"? I haven't set up any P2P server as I didnt know this was needed. Please remember I'm not a techie and very inexperienced in this area.

I've double-checked the user manual for my NVR, I'm not certain it does have a +12 V auxiliary power supply available at the alarm port, unless I've looked at the wrong unit in the manual. No problem though, your initial suggestion would work. Dahua NVR 5216-16P 4KS2E

Having looked at @looney2ns links further, I am after something much more subtle - it's for a domestic property, nice neighbours very nearby and with the amount of false alarms I get, something as glaring as a full on strobe light would cause me an awful lot of grief & complaints. Any tthoughts...

Thanks @looney2ns, I honestly didn't realise that a basic 'strobe light' could be used in this situation, and simply wired in to the NVR. I've a lot to learn!
