    Notification if car leaves

It's another device to charge and mess with - I don't want to have to introduce any new hardware or things to maintain.

    Notification if car leaves

@SecuritySeeker - Trust me, I've tried everything I can think of! It drives me insane...she's so great in so many ways, but turning off lights, closing doors and turning off TV's aren't her strong suit. @wittaj - I'm not super keen on that, as I don't love the location tracking and she often...

    Notification if car leaves

Thanks for the reply. I have Control4, and have the Tesla integrated in there as well. Basically, what happens is my wife leaves all the time, and leaves every single light, TV, etc... on in the house. I want to create programming so that if it's during the day (kids all in school) and she...

    Notification if car leaves

I've got a camera in my garage, that has a clear image of the two cars inside of it. I'm wondering - is it possible for me to use Blue Iris to get notifications when a car comes or goes? What I'd love to do is use logic with my control system, to have certain things happen in my house based on...

    BlueIris keeps closing?

Thank you. I'm aware that the processor has been around for a while. I can also appreciate what you're saying around power consumption. I can also browse through the Wiki again with regards to hardware. I put this together for free using stuff I had around the office and for now I'm going to...

    BlueIris keeps closing?

Fenderman, thanks for the reply. When I say closed, I mean the application isn't running. The application is closed, and my control system can't see the cameras (because it accesses them via BlueIris). I am running the latest version of BlueIris, 5.2.1.4. In the PC settings, for processor it...

    BlueIris keeps closing?

It seems like everytime I come down to the computer that BlueIris is running on, the BlueIris app has closed. What can I do to keep the application from closing? This is a nice computer with i7 processor, 32GB of Ram, etc... It's a clean OS, with the only apps installed being BlueIris and...

Blue Iris Detecting Actions? And UI3

I’m brand new to Blue Iris, and looking forward to getting everything setup. One question I have - does BlueIris have the ability to support the detection of an action and alert on that? IE: Could I record a black car pulling in to the driveway, and tell BlueIris to alert me when that action...

    Couple of camera suggestions

Thanks for the reply, but I don't want the cameras for the police to "identify a perp". Obviously that's a side benefit, but I just like to keep an eye on what's going as I travel a bunch, have a bunch of kids and a swimming pool and hot tub. It's more around convenience for me to see if someone...

    Couple of camera suggestions

That's a great idea, and I didn't know that was possible! Thank you. I'll play around with that.

    Couple of camera suggestions

aristobrat, thank you - that's great advice! Through BlueIris I can do things with the lights when motion is detected...I don't know that the active deterrent is appealing. I like the 2.8MM wide angle camera though in white.

    Couple of camera suggestions

Maybe the same camera is the best way to go. I agree that they are great cameras. I’m not looking for face recognition or anything like that. I just didn’t know if due to the different viewing angles/field of view in these spaces if there was another product that might work better. That’s all.

    Couple of camera suggestions

So, I've placed a bunch of these around my property, and they've been great! They seem to do really well in low light, and in general I'm really happy with them. The areas where I've placed them, they're looking out over broad areas of the property. I'm looking for suggestions on 2 cameras for...

I wouldn't be the one to personally do it, but my help desk would. I don't know what they use, but they've done it before.

Machine for BI and a few other things...

Thanks to both of you for the input. I just found this guy with 32GB of RAM: Dell OptiPlex 9020 MT i7-4790 3.6GHz 32GB RAM DDR3 500GB HD Win 10 Pro | eBay I have a good SSD at home that I could clone this 500GB drive to, and then get a couple of big drives for video footage storage. I also...

Machine for BI and a few other things...

Currently I've got an aging and under powered machine I leave next to my equipment rack to be available for programming of my control system and a few other things. I've decided to move forward with Blue Iris for our 9 (will likely bump up to 11) camera setup. I've been running the Blue Iris...

    Clarification on "locale"

J Sigmo, thanks again for your input. I'm not actually interested in it really for security in the sense of being able to identify people and what not. More just keeping tabs on our pool, being able to understand if a package is on the porch, what time my kid(s) came home, etc... The cameras...

    Clarification on "locale"

Thank you. I have 9 ports free on a 48 port Luxul PoE switch that I use for all of my matrixed a/v distribution (Just Add Power) and was planning to use that. I run a custom built SunMicro rack mount PC with PFSense installed for my firewall, and use OpenVPN for my VPN access. I’m...

    Clarification on "locale"

fenderman, I appreciate both you and J Sigmo taking the time to respond. Yes, I am not tied to Hikvision, and have a server that I can very easily run Blue Iris on. The problem with reading the specs, is that they don't mean a whole lot to me. I'm not super up to speed on camera technology and...

    Clarification on "locale"

I appreciate that J Sigmo, I really do. The biggest reason, is I travel a ton for work and have a ~24 month list of projects that I’m under the gun on once we move in. My wife wants the cameras, and that endless list of things I have to do doesn’t start until the house is done. So I have the...

    Clarification on "locale"

I haven’t bought the Hikvision NVR yet. I haven’t bought anything yet. Just overwhelmed with the options. What would you buy for conveniently keeping an eye on your property? I’ve got a pool and a decent amount of property - I’m not really concerned about intruders, but more just want the...

fenderman - thanks again, but now I'm confused (and I did read the cliff notes). Aren't you what you linked to, the same specs you're telling me to avoid? DS-2CD2346G1-I 4 MP IR Fixed Turret Network Camera-Hikvision

Fenderman, thanks for the reply! I've been absolutely overwhelmed with making a million decisions on my new house and just need to buy something. I guess I can get on board with painting them - I just need to know what to buy.
