looking for something with solar and 4g. This is for a piece of property I picked up -- undeveloped, no power, so looking for something I guess that hunters use? I can get out there a few times a month, so maybe something that'll last a week or two with solar., Not ring.
as a post script to this, got around to setting up substreams -- for 15 dahaua cameras recording at 4000x3000, with substreams at 720p set up, I'm running at 15-17% consistently, and about 9% on the gpu. Very nice! I may actually keep this hardware.
Thanks -- I should have been clearer, obviously video is a concern, but I already have 15 high 12mp dahaua cameras, I'm thinking this one will be more centered on one of the entranceways, and to also do audio.
Thanks for the recomondations!
I'm using 15 Dahua in my BI build - (these: Dahua Cameras )
They're great, but don't have integrated mic.
I know I can put on an external mic, but I'm thinking of adding one or two cameras that have a build in mic just to get sound --- I built this house, so we have plenty of cat6a run...
yup, that tracks. I'm pretty steady now at 25%. I'm sure I can optimize more -- I'm not using substreams, something I need to dive into
the system is also in a server room and I'm accessing it through a remote desktop, which I'm sure is adding to the issues. but 25% with 15 cameras at 4000x3000...
so turns out a bunch.. almost half .. didn't have direct to disc encoding on. Turning it on for all cameras dropped me back down to 25%-30% cpu usage, 8% gpu usage.
The system is a 6950x (no quicksync), 64 gigs ram, 2080ti gpu, with a fairly large storage array (6x 22tb seagate iron wolf, and...
ok, thanks.. very helpful!
for whatever reason, I was crusing along at 40ish percent load on the cpu, then just added two today, and getting slammed -- I have all the cameras on 10fps, assuming that's not too much?
I just built a new setup, running 15 brand new dhaua cameras, with a somewhat dated system (which I'll upgrade at some point) -- I don't want to sacrifice quality, but are there any settings I should be mindful of, that don't really impact quality, but can significantly impact cpu usage (for...
ok, so put this in the bucket of "I'm a dumbass".
most of the cameras are set up to record when triggered, not continuous. so every night, around 9is until around 3 am ish, no recordings, becuase.. no trigger.
duh.
ok, so last night I have a hole bewteen 9:30pm and 4:30am this morning. The earliest entry for some reason is at 10:32 pm. looks like there may have been a restart, I have an info event that nvidia hardware detected, and a minute later started version 5.8.0.8. Nothing before that, though...
I recently revived an older BI server that was in storage -- was workign fine for years. On windows 10, the hardware, while old, is more than capable -- an intel 6950x, 64gig ram, paired with a 1080ti. I'm running 9 dhaua cameras, with 4x 18tb barracudas.
I updated BI to the latest, found the...
I'm running a 9900ks / nvidia titan Xp (basically a touch better than a 1080ti).
GPUz reports that the gpu is running pretty consistently at 75% -- not a huge deal, temps are manageable (I've done a custom water cooling loop on the cpu and gpu, in the low 40s).
But is this normal? seems high...
I know I'm a way behind on this, but just got around to installing code project. WOW-- so easy to install, and works so well.. within minutes, my wife / kid were out side, he was on his bike, and a fede truck in the background, got a 85% person, 85% person 80% bike, 80% truck notification ...
ok, thanks. I frankly haven't been keeping up with the AI developments in BI I'll take a look at codeproject. Does that also offload processing to the GPU?
I'm just getting my feet wet on installing deepstack, and using the GPU install. wading through getting cuDNN installed, etc ... that alone is a little murky. Before I dissect the instructions on Nvidia's site, is there a more digestable guide to getting deepstack GPU version up and running?
Obviously would have to be in a VM --- I'm currently running in a stand alone PC, wondering if anyone has any positive experiences doing this. Just upgraded mine to a 9900t, 2x m.2 2tb cahce drives, 4x 10tb barraccudas, and 32gb ram. I understand the general consensus has been for a while that...
ok, good to know :-)
given my limnitations for now -- running off a hotspot (limited wifi range) , no electricity, and can't mount anything permanently yet, ring may just be the best
I'm not tied to solar, just have to use a battery.
Anyway, reolink looks a bit better-- higher resolutoin, faster bps, and battery life doesn't seem terrible.
from the top corner of the garage (north right corner on the gif) to the bottom corner front of the house (south right corner on the gif) is about 70'
the bottom (south on the pic) is about 45 feet
like I said, it's doing a serviceable job, but not great. The ring cameras take snapshots every 30 seconds. The motion detection is an issue as you mentioned, but I have them grouped together so that if any one of the cameras sense motion, all of them start recording. As for the battery power...
currently building a new house-- it's on the shore/beach, and is pretty visible... finished framining the third story, and want to add in some cameras to watch over the site while I'm/construction guys aren't there.
Right now no doors, windows, and barely sealed against the elements, won't be...
