    Looking into Blue Iris...

If you're referring to using the same computer to serve as something like a home theater NAS for movies, I'd be careful with that. Blue Iris is CPU intensive and if your running something like Plex or something that requires realtime re-encoding for movies your CPU may melt a hole right through...

    HDW5231R-ZE connection issues

Interesting, I also have a Ubiquiti switch. After resetting it, I used a short patch cable to test it overnight and it worked without issue. I guess at this point I would try the basics, power cycling the switch. I reset mine while utilizing an AC adapter plugged into the pigtail only.

    HDW5231R-ZE connection issues

When you say you "reset" it, did you do a hard reset where you hold the button down inside the camera? I had this same issue with the same camera. The hard reset fixed mine.

Blinking light on power meter triggering camera motion

Aristo, Can you show what the custom alert is in Blue Iris? This was the reason why I didn't use IVS as it always turned the video motion on. Thanks!

Blinking light on power meter triggering camera motion

In BI, I would clear all the zones A-H. Then just use zone A to highlight the area you want motion in...stay away from that light and the reflection on the siding. Once that is set play one of your recorded clips for that cam right click and select "run video through motion test" Zone A should...

Blinking light on power meter triggering camera motion

I specifically use BI so I cant comment on IVS too much. Someone on here will help you with that...I just cant believe there wouldn't be some type of exclusion feature in the camera config. GL

Wait IVS doesn't have masking or exclusion areas??

Blinking light on power meter triggering camera motion

I don't know what your setup is as far as BI or NVR but you should be able to play with the masking or zones to leave that small area out.

** Uh...Best Buy $120 External 8TB Hard Drives actually have $250 WD Red Drives Inside?!?!

Thanks for the 3.3v pin info. This wasn't an issue with my older drives. Went and picked up a couple more today, haven't broke into them yet but this info will help alot. Looks like a little heat tape on the 3rd pin and we're good to go.

    Show your Server/Surveillance-Command Center Room!

Now I know some of you have some amazing areas or rooms in your houses dedicated to your IP Cam setups. I just recently got everything setup, I have CAT cables running everywhere, but everything works. I will be unplugging everything and reorganizing everything soon. Need some inspiration, post...

Attn: Networking Gurus - Help me understand this...

Thanks Smoothie, your consensus as well as others was spot on. The new 4K tv streaming appeared to push things over the edge. I just cut another CAT5 and hardwired the tv and the issues seem to have gone away. So with a gigabit network...is there really any bottleneck other than the BI Server...

Yeah I just logged into the switch it shows port 23 as uplink...hmm I don't know what the deal is. Maybe Ill run a Cat 6 cable from the modem to the switch...probably wouldn't make much of a difference. Or maybe run an ethernet from the TV to the Switch

My bad, yes the BI PC is connected directly to a port on the switch. Which port is the uplink port? I think I just plugged it into a random port.

Its advertised as 100 Mbps Internet. I thought about upgrading to gigabit, although not symmetrical. Would faster internet have an effect on devices communicating together on my LAN though?

Getting the HDW5231R-ZE Dialed in = Priceless!

I attached my requested settings below, as you can see, I am running all pretty much default settings. In the first pic you can see the IR light cast down by the PTZ on the peak of the garage and there is a city street light in the intersection some 200' away which provides enough for the cam. I...
