I would like to use ipcam-general, do i need to check "use custom model" in BlueIris Setting tab and then set the model to ipcam-general in the Camera setting AI page? Right now I do not have the "use custom model" checked, its unclear if both need to be set for it to work.

you need to first enter your license, this is the key that was provided to you when you first purchased BI. Then BI will at least open, once it opens go to the About page it will likely say support expired select renew and enter the maintenance key.

You cannot use the service when in the 15 day evaluation period, so everyone lost the service that went into eval mode. Mne was worse as i couldn't even open the app since mine went to 0 days.

What difference does it make if its a NAS or external drive as long as the storage is fast enough? Technically a 1gbps network NAS would be slower than a USB 3.0 5gbps. My archive drive that I'm currently using is a 3gbps SATA drive connected to a 3gbps SATA port, the USB drive is faster.

Now I need to go see if auto tracking is broken on one of my Amcrest cameras. I updated it months ago and it's been working just fine but had disabled auto tracking until I mounted it, didn't get around to reenabling it.

I wasn't aware they are doing shady things such as removing features, I can also see API changes breaking automation but that does not apply to me. But noted on the don't fix what ain't broke

I'd like to try it out. Its best practice to stay as current as possible, doesn't have to be the latest. I tend to update once a year and always keep a backup of the old firmware and configs so I can easily restore if I run into issues.
