    Cellular cameras

I am going to use a couple of these to monitor my new house build: CelluCORE™ 20 Solar Cellular Trail Camera | Bushnell I don't have them yet so can't give a review, but the online reviews seem good and they are fairly cheap. They are only for still images. They have another model for live view...

Best low light poe camera without spotlights

Doesn't anyone use the 2231 anymore? That is my favorite camera. I have a couple 5442's but I like the 2231 better because it sees great in the dark and uses low bandwidth.

Any recommendation for a solar LTE camera?

It's a good idea but my biggest problem will be power. It needs to be solar powered. I will be over 2000 miles away so I will probably just go with one or two all in one solar/LTE cams.

Any recommendation for a solar LTE camera?

I will be starting construction of a new house where there is no power, but there is cell service. I need a few decent solar/LTE cameras that I can place in the surrounding trees that so that I can get a live view whenever I want. I know the quality of these cams will not be even close to the...

I have created a way to use TP-Link Kasa lights for motion detection lighting through Blue Iris

As long as you keep your PC updated, then you should have the .net requirements. For the parameters, I use a batch file and put the name of the exe and the parameters in there and then call the batch file from the alert.

I have created a way to use TP-Link Kasa lights for motion detection lighting through Blue Iris

I wanted to trigger some of my Kasa lights from Blue Iris when my cameras detect motion. There is no public API available but there are a few web pages that list enough of the protocol for what I need. I used this info to create an exe that that will turn on a light for n seconds and then turn...

Need Help determining what this could be caused by ?

I get the same thing using Intel Hardware acceleration with H.265, but it's much worse. I have a much older CPU i7-6770. Does it go away if you turn hardware acceleration off?

Memory creeping on Intel Graphics 530

Are you using H.264 or H.265? When I use that version of the driver (23.20.16.4973) with H.265, it seems like it is working fine but when I view the recordings in BI the video pauses for 5-10 seconds then starts again for 1-2 seconds then pauses again repeatedly so its unviewable.

Help setting up a new camera, no ip addy

I also use 10.xx IP addresses on my network. What I do to set up a new Dahua camera is temporarily change the IPv4 settings for the PC network connection to 192.168.1.x, and then access the camera at 192.168.1.108 and change the IP. Then change the PC back to the 10.xx IP setting.

    Dahua turret set screw

I lost the turret set screw for one of my Dahua 5442 cameras. I found a screw that works but it is big and ugly. Is there anywhere to get these screws?

    CPU 100%

I will play around with the settings more to see if there is something I missed, but so far I am unable to get BI to not decode the stream at all. The way I test this is to add/remove support for the sub stream. Without sub stream support I am at 18-20% CPU load, with sub stream support I am at...

    CPU 100%

I have motion detection disabled and I have screen overlays disabled and I am using direct to disk recording so I would assume it would not require decoding the stream. There must be something else going on that requires decoding.

    CPU 100%

Wow - great tip about the sub streams. It dropped CPU usage to about 1/8 of what it was. What I don't understand is why it makes a difference if I have motion detection disabled in BI for all cameras.

Randomly zooms? in on upper left quadrant. playing the clip or enlarging feed plays a normally focused feed

I had the exact same problem yesterday. It still looked fine in the camera web interface so I rebooted my BI machine to restart the service and it fixed itself and hasn't happened since. BI version is 5.3.7.4.

    H.266 video compression

Just read about the new H.266 video compression here and haven't seen any posts on it yet. Looks like it is not finalized yet and it is targeting 4k resolution and up. So I guess that means it will be a while before we see it in BI and Dahua cams. I figure some other members may have more info...

    IPC-T2831T-ZS 8MP vs 2MP

Here are night videos of the 2831 and the 5442 with just IR. It pretty much shows what everyone else says about the 5442 being superior at night. I am still fairly new to this and I have a long way to go before I understand it all, but it seems strange to me that my 2MP 2231's have a bitrate of...

    IPC-T2831T-ZS 8MP vs 2MP

sebastiantombs, Everything was set to the default values. I took your advice and ordered a couple 5442 cameras and already received them (Andy ships fast!!!) so I will take some videos in the same spot with both the 2831 and the 5442 during the day and night and post them. I will just use the...

    IPC-T2831T-ZS 8MP vs 2MP

Here are some night pics. 2831 set to 2MP with IR on and also IR from porch camera: 2831 set to 8MP with IR on and also IR from porch camera: 2831 8MP IR off: I think this is my favorite, 2831 8MP IR off with IR from porch camera only: 2831 8MP with IR and motion light on. This is what...

    IPC-T2831T-ZS 8MP vs 2MP

I agree, the 5442 is probably better with the larger sensor but it costs about 50% more for a varifocal version ($130 vs $200) so I'm not sure its that much better.

    IPC-T2831T-ZS 8MP vs 2MP

Just wanted to share my findings with the 2831. I have a couple 2231 turrets and they are great cams. I wanted a few more and the 2831s are only $20-$30 more so I thought I would try them. I figured I could always set them to 2MP and they would essentially be 2231s if I didn't want the extra...

Anyone going to get the 10th gen Intel Chip? (i7-10700k?)

I've been waiting for these to be released to do my next build. The 10 core i9 looks nice, but may go with the i7-9700 depending on price. They changed the socket from the 9th gen but Asus has a LGA 1200 mini-itx motherboard now listed on their site: ROG STRIX Z490-I GAMING | Motherboards |...

Are these intrusions or uninvited guests?

The TRS-80 was a great computer. My high school got them in about 81 or 82. We had 4k of RAM and cassette tapes for storage. I think that is what got me first interested in engineering. The next thing I knew I was at a computer show buying a motherboard and a tube of RAM chips to build my first...

    Tv or monitor

If you want a decent low priced 43 inch 4k monitor, look for the LG 43UD79-B. Costco discounts it online a couple times a year to around $440-470. I am using it right now. One of the good features is that it allows you to split the screen in a bunch of different ways to show up to 4 inputs at...
