I am in the process of replacing my HikVision cams. I bought 3 Dahua cams including the IPC-T5442T-ZE and IPC-T5449H-ASE-D2-6mm plus one for license plate readings. I was wondering if there are any better cams in the $200 range that might outperform the IPC-T5442T-ZE. I kind of like the varifocal cams as it gives a bit more flexibility but I am open to other fixed focal lengths if they perform significantly better. I will keep the HikVision cams for overview cams but have the new cams to concentrate on certain areas.

The 5442 series is still considered by many as the king of the cameras and you won't find better at that price range.

You won't find a 1/1.2" sensor below $200.

What is the most popular 1/1.2" cam? I might be willing to spend a bit more than $200/cam for the cams in the front where it matters the most.

The 4K/X is the most popular 1/1.2" camera. Unfortunately it only comes as a bullet and no varifocal.

Hik makes a 1/1.2" camera as well, but it's onboard white LED lights are not as bright as the 4K/X. There seems to be more complaints about the Hik version at night than the 4K/X.

Keep in mind these do not see infrared, so if you do not have enough ambient light or use the LEDs, then the camera is blind. They are great, but do not defy physics.

EDIT: It now comes in varifocal!

The 4K/X currently is only available in a 2.4mm and 3.6mm turret form. This may not meet your needs. It retails for about $250 right now. It is arguably the best reasonably priced 4k color camera currently available if it does match your needs.
