20 HD Camera system best NVR

What would the best Computer setup and NVR setup for a 20 camera HD 3MP system. Right now have a Intel Core 2 Quad CPU 2.83 MHz, 16GB of Ram and a 3TB backup HDD. I can run 8 cameras pretty good running Blueiris 4 x64, However when I get beyond cameras the system slows down to a creep and when I reached 16 cameras it crashes constantly. Ive been told a NVR will solve this problem? That or running 2 bueiris servers with 10 cameras per server

Well a Core 2 Quad is not very fast anymore. 20 cameras @ 3MP is not out of the question with a modern i7-4790k Blue Iris system, though you will probably have to reduce frame rates to 10 or 15 FPS, and of course use direct to disk on all cams.
