I have a 2CD2632F-I(S) and when i set resolution to 1920x1080P i get the same FOV (field-of-view) as on 4:3 resulting in stretched picture (wrong PAR pixel-aspect-ratio). I see the same 4:3 picture content squeezed into 16:9 frame.
I haven't found an option to get proper 16:9 output but YouTube videos from other people seem fine.
Is it maybe firmware depended? Does it work properly for your 2xx2 camera?

Just checked 'live view' so far with ivms-4500 and TinyCam (both on Android). I usually don't need recordings.

those apps are stretching the image...if you look at the image in the browser it will display just fine.

Will check that... but it is the full uncropped 4:3 image that the camera sends via RTSP. Just with 16:9 AR bit set or something. Would be better if the camera would send 16:9 in 1:1 PAR in the first place. But if you say it's the same on your side it's probably the way these cameras work. I have firmware 5.3.3 on it (that usually is not for the 2xx2 series) so I'm not sure if the camera works properly.

when the camera is set to 1080p it sends a 16:9 image...you may be viewing the substream...

It sends 2048x1536 scaled to 1920x1080 here for sure ("flat heads"). I will flash 5.3.0 tomorrow.

The HikVision series 2 cameras give a different FOV when set to 1080p than when set to 3mp.

The HikVision IP Camera FOV Technical Bulletin lists the DS-2CD2632F-I (S) as
1920x1080 FOV = 105.2°-31.9°
2048x1536 FOV = 91.2°-28.3°
