I've read through the posts and I'm coming to the conclusion the 2mp starlight are superior for outdoor cameras. My curiosity is whether the same benefit would apply indoors. We are installing cameras mainly to monitor our babysister and children inside. One camera is going in the nursery to watch my son sleep. I'm sure in low light the 2mp will be superior but for everyday daytime viewing as well?

TLDR; Knowing 2mp starlight cameras have their advantages, what are the use cases for 4mp starlight variety?

As long as you can get 1080P, you'll be fine. This means a 2-to-3 megapixel camera is more than adequate. 4 MP indoors is just overkill IMHO.

Overkill? Or no benefit?
for your application there's little benefit to 4mp. 4MP might be worth considering in a very brightly lit store or similar application.
