Are the cameras p;lugged directly into the NVR?
What model is your NVR?

How, besides the app, do you view the cameras live feed?
3 of them are but 2 come via a wirelss link transmitted from the garage about 40feet away to a receiver on the house with a clear line of sight between transmitter aand receiver. A single cable comes from the receiver into a gismo plugged into the mains, and a single network cable emerges from the gismo to plug into the nvr.
I have experienced the same problem on both of these cameras. In the dark they are fine. However, when they are armed, entering the intrusion zone(s) causes the image to apparently black out. I first noticed this while performing a check to see if the flashing lights and sounder worked on all the cameras at night. One camera simply shone its white light, and did not sound or flash. I went into my den to look at the monitor and performed a search.
When the intrusion zone is entered the image turns from the monochrome IR to black -but I can just see images ie me moving around and when I leave the zone I briefly see my torch and a flash of the ground in colour .
I have had the same thing on the other camera at the opposite end of the garage, but this occurred when I was at the computer, which is next to the dahau monitor, and the sudden change in image caught my eye. Time around 1025PM UK time

If it was the wiring then why doesn't it happen in daylight? I know it took the experts nearly a day to install the wireless stuff and the cameras in the garage, which makes me suspicious.

The NVR is a DH-NVR4208-8P-I . I found a reference to it in nvr4104hs-p-4ks2_l_usermanual.pdf but it is hidden, and is not the latest kit as far as I can tell. The nearest up-to-date model is nvr4208-8P-EI.

One other camera directly plugged also plays up - the boss of the outfit took ages to get the intrusion border working, and then it wouldn't trigger. The trouble is - I'm flying blind as I haven't tried the snapshot routine yet otherwise I could post one here.

Ok so all of that is simply settings on the cameras. Im sure your installer guy can figure it out and make it right

I would delete the app from your phone. Get your phone reset with a new password, then reset the password on your NVR/cameras

And if you are port forwarding your NVR so you can view remotely, thats likely where you got hacked. Shut off port forwarding first immediately, and use a VPN or the P2P connection on your NVR.
I followed your instructions - I used P2P. The response has improved, and this morning UK time, I had no illegal logins apart from 2 x 127.0.0.1
