32ch kikvision DVR, rebooted it, it is blank now, starting like its new??

i restart my DS-7632N-E2/8P NVR every month or two with no issues. but just restarted it now and it like factory reset itself or something. asked to configure everything from new.
like wtf?? what happened? any one know?? there are no cameras showing or anything now.

It sounds like you didn't export a configuration settings file ...

nope, just local operation reboot, local hdd information, power on, then 20x IP camera disconnected, HDD SMART, local operation activation ......................

If you've spent ages setting up and configuring until you're happy with the result - it's good to preserve that effort by exporting and storing a configuration file for both the device and the cameras.
This facility in the web GUI is under the Maintenance menus.
I used to do that for every little change I made, but I admit I'm a bit lax about that now.

oh crap, i just remembered i do have a backup, 12 months old. damn i jsut spent last few hours reconfiguring it and forgot about that one. oh well.

any easy way to drag the cameras around from screen to screen to set that part up right? i have 1x7 screen setup with 20 cameras, want to move one from one screen to another but its damn hard.

I run the NVRs headless.
