Hi,
I've got a Milesight 9 Channel NVR.
It has 4 poe ports for direct camera connection and 1 network port.
It currently has 4 cameras connected to the 4 poe ports.
I was told if I need to add more than 4 cameras that I would need to take ALL cameras out and plug them into a separate poe switch which would then connect to the network port on the NVR.
Meaning an 8 port switch can only give my nvr access to 6 cameras total (remaining 2 ports to router and nvr).
However I have been doing some reasearch it looks like I can leave the 4 cameras plugged in directly to the nvr, add an 8 port poe switch. The 2 ports on the switch goes to the router and the nvr network port while the remaining 5 goes to extra cameras. The nvr will still be able to use 4 of the the directly connected switches plus 5 extra cameras totalling 9 all together.
Which method is correct?
