Hi everyone, I have 8x Dahua 4K cameras around my house and an NVR I purchased from a vendor from here. The NVR sits in my media console in my living room and the fans are LOUD. I can even hear it from another bedroom even after purchasing silent fans and modding the case.
I'm looking for a fanless, silent NVR that could potentially work with my cameras. Any recommendations?

Many here replace the fan with this- did you try these?

So I seen you said you replaced the fans in your NVR and that didn't help. If your Fan system a 12 or 5v. Some are 5 others are 12 and both of them seem to be just as loud as the other.. As said before Noctua is a go to for keeping the nvr quiet. Also there are some NVRs that support Smart Fan Tech and you can setup how you want your fan to run. Most have Auto or Always. Default is Always and if you put on Auto might spin it down enough for your system to be in good enough for your current location.

Next and again seeing you said you replaced so I am guessing this isn't the issue but can you confirm that the fan isn't hitting any wires or anything like that. IN the last few years seen a few systems that had issues like that where the fan was spinning into the wires of the fan. Relocation of the wires went to a Whisper..

Next how is your Fan connected? Is it mounted to the side of the case? or is it mounted to a stand that fits in the bottom of the case? At times, the noise is caused by vibrations so could mount on an area that has vibration cushions and that can keep the rattle down..

Outside of all the steps you can take with what you have. Fan less NVRs are out there but are rare. I mean one of the ones that I gave away some years ago on another forum was 16ch standard 4k NVR however my 8ch POE NVR of same model has a Fan. So it can be a hit and miss.

Or you can get the metal shears out cut a hole for a bigger case fan,,,that rotates at a lower freq, an is more of a Zen hum
I did it. Because I couldn't F-ing listen to that at my work bench

Orrr...here's another though... search out some cpu or northbridge/ southbridge mainboard coolers to replace the stock thermal dissipation setup, and then run a case fan inside your media console.

I have silent fans, that’s not the issue I think once the fans are next to an opening, they caused some kind of additional sound. I was wondering if there are any truly silent NVR’s.

SSD isn't' designed for 24/7 use with constant read/write.. So for me no issue as I don't use them for my DVR/NVRs Even Micro SDs that I use on some of my cameras I have to replace at least two or more times before my Recorders WD Purple HDD needs replacing.. Personally I wouldn't use SSD for DVR/NVR.

SSDs are not really designed for the continuous writing of video cameras. Sure people have used enterprise ones and can get many years out of it, but more than likely you would get the cheaper typical consumer grade SSD and it may not be able to keep up or you will probably kill the SSD in a year or less like this person has twice:

As always YMMV and some people have used cheap ones fine.
