It's not that the CCA junk will genuinely become obsolete; sadly, there will always be a market for those looking for the cheapest possible solution in our "race to the bottom" marketplace. Generally, most people will only do the research after it fails, only to then find out that yeah, it's a widespread problem.
It kinda reminds me of the experiment we ran in home construction (from the mid-1960s to early 1970s) of using aluminum wiring: it sorta worked...until it didn't and caused house fires.
