Use the audio-in + and -. Change the setting to mic-in, 711 sounds best, 726 uses less processing.

I use a very tiny mic and they work fine.

Bought 3 units of this DS-2CD2135FWD-IS and thought of using the audio-in with tiny mic but to my disappointment it didn't work for me as in the new firmware V5.5.0 for audio type input has been preset to LINE-IN only.

May I know, what your version of firmware for this model. I believe that HIKVISION has lock us out from using the MIC-IN.

This is very old post but I like to add into this post that the new version of firmware V5.5.0 or V5.5.3 for this camera just only support LINE-IN for any microphone set up, which meaning I believe requires of power adapter to power the microphone.

It seems Hikvision has cut off the MIC-IN in the later firmware version as based on earlier written post that V5.2.5 does work in yesteryear.
