Hope your all good

as title suggests, Need some help connecting the following please:

Hikvision NVR 7608ni-K2
HIKVISION 8MP DS-2CD2383G0 IP Camera

Aim is to get the system working and access cameras remotely using the safest method possible however remote access isn't necessary for now just need them to start recording.

Router Gateway:
192.162.0.3 - IPv4
192.162.0.1 - Gateway

NVR IP - 192.168.0.29
Camera 1 - 192.168.0.30
Camera 2 - 192.168.0.31

Methods tested:
1)
NVR has been reset to factory settings - DHCP Disabled
Camera reset via SADP - DHCP Disabled
- Cameras were connected directly to the NVR via plug n play option hoping they would configure themselves.

2)
I.P address & Gateway adjusted for Camera via SADP
The gateway used matched the router and laptop
I.P address used are on the same gateway as above

Access to camera and NVR using the browser works fine.

Once the cameras are disconnected from the 12v power supply and connected to the NVR
unable to access via browser or NVR
Can only connect to NVR via browser

3)
Manual configuration via NVR
Adding IP address, password manually

  • Tried new ethernet cables
  • Different ports on the NVR
  • Connected to Hik-connected - Only NVR appears. DDNS disabled

From looking into it further seems the cameras need to configured with the NVR via browser to enable remote access

Need to get this up and running by Christmas hopefully not much to do.

Look forward to hearing from you

Thanks io advance

They will if the cameras have been reset to 'Inactive' and the NVR channel they are connected to is in Plug&Play mode.

As you've suggested the cameras can be connected to the NVR directly - presumably the NVR is a DS-7608NI-K2/8P and not a DS-7608NI-K2
In which case, as the camera is in an 'Active' state, not 'Inactive' (ie reset to defaults) you'd need to set the camera IP address to match the IP address of the NVR channel you want to connect it to, as seen in the NVR web GUI under System | Camera Management.
It will be something like 192.168.254.x

That method can be used if you want to re-assign an NVR PoE channel to point to a camera that's on the LAN (not an NVR PoE port) in the same IP address range as the NVR LAN interface.

Camera reset via SADP - DHCP Disabled
SADP does not do that.
To reset a camera to default settings, ie 'Inactive' you'd need to access the camera web GUI and use the Maintenance menu.
