Hi all,
so has anyone had success with the new AMD Ryzen 1500 55watt cpu? I have 15 3mp Hikvision cameras and I am wondering if the 1500 55watt cpu would work. I am currently running on a 960 and so would love something a little less power hungry.

Blue iris uses intel HD with quicksync for hardware acceleration....buy an i7-6700/7700 system about 500 bux... There are a million threads discussing this..AMD is a terrible choice for blue iris. If you are able to run it on an i7-920 then you can easily run it on an i5-6500 based system that can be had for 300.

So based on this info, I do have have an 1150 board, so I could go i5 Haswell with 8gb for around $250 and get much better power consumption I would think. I presume I would lose very little performance moving from a 960 to an i5-4460? Thoughts?

I would not waste money building....you can buy an i5 haswell full system for less that money...search the forum for elitedesk and optiplex.

I have been looking at the elitedesk and optiplex options and could not see anything less than $300. Remember I already have a system running, I have a socket 1150 board sitting in a closet and I may even have ram that will work, so the only thing I am definitely missing is a cpu. The case I am using could fit a lot of hard drives also. So the most flexibility comes from upgrading what I have. Sure if I could find a full i5 Haswell or higher system for $250 I could still use it for parts but I am not seeing any of those deals at present. :(

then you have not searched...elitedesk i5-4590 | eBay
if you spend a bit more, you can get a skylake i5-6500 which has improved intel hd as well as the ability to offer h.265 hardware acceleration if BI implements it...

I must admit when I was searching last night I had i7 in my criteria.
