Andy's NVR vs Blue Iris?

So is UI3 a mobile app? I seriously have no idea. As long as it works, I mean the Dahua DMSS app was 3rd party

To illustrate my comment about the UI3 video not being as sharp, here's the fullscreen zoomed image from it, below. The issue doesn't matter much when not zoomed. I hope that it's a problem I'm responsible for and haven't figured out yet. I've got zero loyalty to either of these systems, they're like a hammer or screwdriver to me, and I use the one that makes my job the easiest.

1440P CBR selected in UI3 will give you a better picture, if you want the best, then select 21604k. Using VBR is possibly seriously degrading the picture. Don't use VBR anywhere if you want the best pic.

I see, so it would be ok on desktop but really small on mobile, and clunky?

You guys still set/get instant notifications with pic and video, all the basic mobile functionality ?
I’m guessing no P2P capability?

So +1 for DMSS App integration to Dahua NVRs

I use UI3 on my mobile. That is probably 95% of my viewing. I find the BI app way too clunky LOL.

But if I want to look at something in more detail I will open up the actual BI console on a computer.

UI3 is just a viewer, but with the BI app you get push notifications and can do two-way talk on cameras that support it, but only get an image if you port forward or are logged into VPN while away.

Many of instead use the Pushover app so we can get pictures without port forward or being logged in to VPN and it has way more functionality than the push from the BI app.

UI3 is very customizable, it works just fine on my Android. You can customize it to fit your phone. Ui3 is a @bp2008 creation.

Once again I think it’s what you get used to.
Feature wise it blows the doors off if UI3 or the BI app from what I can tell. I mean you essentially have to use 3 apps to get the functionality of DMSS
BI app, UI3, Pushover app and Im guessing they dont talk to each other.

I actually updated to the latest version about a month ago and have been pleasantly surprised. It’s a very capable app once you learn it and because it’s integrated into the Dahua ecosystem it has functionally that you can only get with that.

I know you can watch liveview multiple cameras, but can DMSS playback all the cameras at once or just solo?

But yeah, things like sending off an audio alarm with the push of a button is easier with DMSS. I have created work-arounds for BI.

This could be one of the times I could learn something. Bigred, could you walk me through an easier way to single step through an event in SmartPSS? The way I do it is to find the event on the timeline, zoom the timeline, start playback just before the event and single step until it quits working, click on the event, then VERY quickly pause the video because it comes up playing, then resume single stepping. It's single click on the event with UI3. If you want to see the first few frames right after the event, I've not found a way to do it.

The situation is similar but less complicated to view the few seconds before the event: Find event on the timeline, zoom the timeline, start playback just before the event. Again, one click on the event in UI3.

I've never tried the BI mobile app.

yes it can playback all cameras at once,... or solo, or by group, or by device
 
It’s Called Multi-Window on the homepage. I just opened 58 cameras at 6 different locations all at once live

Yeah I can open live view of multiple cameras, but what about playback of previous events?

I can only find solo cam of recorded playback?

No. I don’t think you can, I’ll play with it but I don’t see it either

Because the full time recording and event recording are separate clips, as you say it stops at the end of the general clip

But it stops after recording the initial trigger frame. So you get the trigger before you go to the event recording.
(I assume BI it’s all one continuous recording/clip?)

Nothing high tech.

When I hit that stop, after the trigger frame, which always ends on an Iframe, I simply move the bar with the time bubble because it’s easy to grab, until it switches to the next second. Now I’m in the event recording and proceed as I had been.

I’m sure it’s possible to miss a few frames that way. So if there is something I need viewing the playback that falls in those couple of frames, I just grab the image cap using the instant photo capture button while the video plays through normally or via slo-mo if those few frames are that critical

If one is trying to capture a bullet moving 2900 fps, this wouldn’t be a good solution. But for 99.999% of what we do, and you guys tell me 15fps is plenty, then I doubt we’ll miss a full blink of an eye

I’ll try to test that with a flying insect on it tonight and show the result. We should be able to see how far he moves in those couple of frames.
 
I run 10 fps, so that factors into the big picture.

BI is a continuous recording with an index file for the events. At first years ago I thought it was clever that Dahua leveraged the linux file system for tracking the events. I've since changed my mind because there are too many unintended consequences.
