Hi all. I've recently had a warranty replacement of my Annke C800 camera and now have a small issue with the video feed pausing/flashing black every few seconds. I'm pretty sure the old camera wasn't doing it.

See sample here

The effect is also present at night, and much worse if I enable WDR, and sometimes activates the motion recording because of the glitch.

I get the same issue whether viewing the live feed from IE/Chrome/iVMS, or viewing the recording, which is done to the internal micro SD card. So I don't believe it to be a bandwidth OR storage issue.

My relevant settings are below:-
Camera
Annke C800 (I91BM) (Hikvision clone)
Firmware: V5.5.102 build 210611
Integration Protocol
ONVIF: OFF
Video/Audio
Resolution: 3840x2160
Bitrate: Constant
Video quality: highest
Frame rate: 12
Max bitrate: 8192
Video encoding: H.265+
I-frame: 12
SVC: OFF
Image Adjustment
Brightness, Contrast, Saturation, Sharpness all 50
Exposure Settings
Iris: Manual; Exposure: 1/100
Day/Night Switch
Day/Night Switch: Auto; Sensitivity: 5
Filtering Time: 5
Smart Supplement Light: OFF
Supplement Light Mode: IRlight Supplement Light
Light Brightness Control: Auto
IR Light: 100
Backlight Settings
BLCArea, WDC, HLC: OFF
Image enhancement
DNR: OFF
Video Adjustment
Mirror: OFF
Video standard: PAL 50Hz
Motion Detection
Enable Motion Detection & Enable Dynamic Analysis: ON

I've tried different bitrates, even the lowest, and resetting to factory defaults. Tried different i-frame values. Any changes either make it worse or no difference.

Any ideas? As the camera is new I'm trying to find out if it might be a hardware issue and needs replacing.

Which changes make it worse? That may be a clue.
Have you tried not using h.265+ ?

If you disable recording, do you still see the effect on Live View?
How is the device powered?

WDR definitely made it worse.
Yes tried without H.265+, and even H.264. Same effect.
Same problem live streaming without recording, as this is what I get straight after a full factory reset.

It's powered by a 12v injector over the cat5e. Good idea - I'll try powering directly from a different 12v supply and report back. Ladders out...

It does sound like you've covered all the bases that could be a contributing factor to the problem.

That does leave the firmware as a possibility.
But the chances of Annke helping out with that are pretty small, in my experience.

Well actually this is a warranty replacement, and for the old one they remote connected to my PC to troubleshoot it. Upgraded the firmware, and confirmed a hardware fault (kept resetting to defaults after any power cycle). Sent a new camera. All within about a week.

My question then is if anyone thinks my sample footage is normal/acceptable? Otherwise I'll contact them again.

Cheers Alastair.

It does sound like you've had some good support so far.
Let's hope that continues, you've certainly had a good crack at the fault-finding.

I recently registered on their support system to request a copy of the same firmware as had been installed on a camera where it had become corrupt.
This should be a pretty straightforward request.

After a couple of weeks with only a basic acknowledgement and no further response I added a chasing post.
My account was then suspended.
