His captures are quickly becoming the more rural equivalent to those of @lulu5kamz .
Maybe he's on a volunteer fire & rescue squad and is anticipating some action because of the winds, rain, etc.

Volunteer fire or medical using CB??? I seriously doubt that.
I didn't mention CB...the OP did.
It's such a big antenna he may not keep it on all the time, maybe has to drive in/out of his place where there's low-hanging limbs.

That first one was definitely a CB antenna that he tried, and failed, to mount. It's usually used by CBers with "footwarmers", linear amplifiers, so the coil can handle the added power.
