Can't get rid of these vertical lines no matter what I do.

Image, encoder, etc every possible setting has been adjusted and I think it's the sensor itself but wanted to see if any of you have experienced this. Have also tried 12v 3a and PoE.

Cam is a SD49825GB-HNR

Thank you all for the speedy replies! Yep the plastic is off and the lines sort of come in and out based on picture contents. They seem to like blank areas but I can still see them in detailed objects as well. I've tried a few different cables and power sources (even 12V battery system) and relocated the camera outside of the house to test. I think it may be an RMA situation at this point which is a shame because the rest of the cam is very ideal. Bah! Again thank you so much!

Do you have the camera testing upside down? Maybe something inside is being kinked.

Since you are RMAing the thing, don't chase MP.

That is 8MP on a sensor designed for 2MP so a 2MP will be better all night long.

I have the 2MP and 4MP version of that camera and I night the 2MP is by far the better camera. 8MP on the same size sensor will be even worse than the 4MP.

Ideal MP/sensor ratio is even more important with a PTZ that can see a wide range of light conditions. Get something in green.

Totally agree and as someone who has been in professional digital video/photography since its origins I understand the physics :)

With this specific use case however, I do have to be a pixel chaser somewhat, as the subject for this camera is never closer than 1.5 miles and max about 10 miles. I've strung up about 10 cams ranging from 2mp - 8mp and as much as I historically disagree with digital zoom, the 8mp has a bit more on the board to get where I need it to go. Night/low light doesn't matter in the application too which is another odd (but thankful) thing haha.

I have tested in all physical orientations and same result. Just opened up the few boards on base and sensor etc to check for any glaring connectivity/EMI issues but doing live tests with it nothing changed.

This bad boy has triple the focal length of that Axis LOL and would thus do even better at your extreme distances and meets your 8MP requirement, plus on an ideal MP/sensor ratio LOL

If heat haze wasn't a thing I could totally see it! That's sort of the reason I have been cautious about going with larger optics and have been pretty satisfied with the standard 25x with some digital after. That said, not all 25x are created equal and there are some hair splitting discussions in there yada yada. I had this theory that I could get everything done inside of $500 in 2024 because none of this tech is new/cutting edge. I demoed an Amcrest 2mp and the servo motors in them were terrible compared to their 4mp but like... an unnecessary $650 price tag to something that should, at most, be $450.
