After reading reviews on here I got an ME52W but quite disappointed. Close range with everything maxed out it's great anything over 10ft it's barely noticeable. The Camera is on a 9ft ceiling so in order to pick up any conversation it has to be directly below the camera.

Those cheap ebay MICS with the builtin preamp pick up quite well for what they cost. I am surprised at them, but I don't know how they compare to anything else more expensive or if they are just as equal in performance.

Thanks for the link. Does it need additional power supply to work? Just snip off the comnector and hoom it up?

It does need a 12v power source to power it, it has a 12v power in, and the audio out, and another 12v out so you can use it as a Y splitter to power another 12v source without the need of an extra Y splitter cable.

There may be a MIC that will work for you WITHOUT the need for additional power, so if you require that, see if other members can give you better help on such MIC.
