Water coming out of the powerhouse at the dam (~34 degrees or so) keeps the river open for several miles. That allows the eagles to fish and kill geese and ducks through the winter. The bottom two pics are sections of the same group of trees, so combine them and you can see 14 eagles. Pretty sure there were more in those trees not viewable. X was my location on that causeway... love living here!!I count ten! Wow. Wonder why there are so many in one spot?
Yikes, I'm in the Dallas area, supposed to arrive here some time today, stay warm.It hit Lubbock, Texas this morning (February 18, 2025). It was 24 degrees (heat wave temperature for you Northerners right now), north winds around 15 to 20 MPH, and a wind chill near 12 degrees. I went for my 4.5 mile walk starting at 4:30 A.M. CST. Made it back home and didn't see any car burglars, fights, domestic disputes, or shots fired for some unknown reason.
The next 96 hours are going to be nasty cold as temperatures drop.

Those windmills don't do too good at night. Solar and windmills are killing what used to be low kWh prices. Putting natural gas and coal on the backburner has been a disaster.May your power grid keep running!! Stay warm!!
Beautiful picture . . . but that temperature sucks.
Leawood is close to Overland Park, KS. I still check the weather up there. I really enjoyed the four years I lived in Overland Park as a teenager. Time flies too fast.Disregard, I thought you were Steve from TX, from KC!
