Are Dahua NVR event 'thumbnail images' visible on any mobile apps?

Getting the hang of it

The DMSS app uses placeholder thumbnail images for event snapshots. This leads me to believe actual snapshots could / should be available.
I've set all events to record snapshots as well as record. One can see in the NVR interface - there are lovely cropped images.
This would be an ideal way to review activity - ideally on an iPad, iPhone, Android, etc. Does anyone have this working or is it not implemented?

Thanks.

Same issue and it's 2024. Has anyone figured this out?

1. you must be logged in DMSS into Dahua cloud using your login (email) and pass. If you don’t have cloud account, create one in dmss
2. Being logged in you must add your camera or NVR do DMSS using P2P (serial number). If you had that config / device before, delete previous one from dmss
3 from that time new events should have thumbs pics in DMSS

Really appreciate the quick reply. I have their cloud disabled and login to the app locally using VPN so that's probably my problem right there. Bummer :/

I've completed the steps outlined, but still don't see unique thumbnails as hoped for. Any other suggestions?

check one more time:
1. are you in cloud account mode (are you logged in)?
2. did you remove previous device configuration to this NVR?
3. did you add NVR one more time using serial number / P2P (when you click in details of device is visible serial number with NS: prefix - no ip/ddns name).
4. are you connected using this new NVR configuration?
5. are this events new (from time after You added device using P2P in account mode)?

1. what is firmware on Your NVR? A few days ago Dahua released new firmware for 5xxx-4ks2...

DH vs general - with or without Dahua logo/name..

2. You can try subscribe notifications to each chanel / camera in DMSS (NVR device -> device details -> multichannel alarm subscriptions and them enable SMD/Intrusion/tripwire alarms (depending what you have configured on cams/nvr) for specified Chanels. remember to click save at the end...

I'd recently asked 'Andy' about firmware for the cameras and noted they were named as "EmpireTech" filename: EmpireTech IPC-HX5XXX-Volt_MultiLang_NP_Stream3_V2.840.15OG00D.0.R.220818.
IPC-T5442T-ZE
This led me to wonder if I should never apply what's on dahua's site vs. what he sold to me. Seems there were issues with firmwares in the past.
What was surprising is the version appears to be dated 2022.

I don't recall where I got the NVR .bin.

Andy's firmware is usually newer even if Dahua has a "newer" date.

He has changes made to it based on comments here and sometimes they adopt them to their Dahua firmware if they like what it provides.

I think the thumbnails only work for @bigredfish LOL - I could never get them either.

You can install normal Dahua version of empiretech cams or NVRs - no problem...
the only difference between DH and general firmwares are Dahua logo vs ipcam logo..

in case of old 5442 on volt firmware - there were big problems with SmartIR in that cams..
Andy had version with working SmartIR (220818), but there are newer versions from 2023 and 2024 without working SmartIR..
So You can stay on actual firmware on 5442 and only upgrade firmware on NVR...

Upgraded firmware. No joy.
Has anyone ever gotten it to work and has pictures to prove it?
