I've been using Blue Iris BI to move audio, and it was working fine. Recently, I removed an Amcrest 841 from service for testing, did a factory reset, and removed it from BI. Later, I wanted to set it up again—this time as a warning system for my local monitor area. The idea was to use the 841’s speaker to play a warning when a tripwire alert was triggered in my driveway, a location where no one should accidentally be.

I followed the same setup process as before, but this time, the only output I could get was through the external speaker connected to my BI computer, not the 841’s built-in speaker. I tried running a few CGI commands, but they returned errors. At that point, I decided to test if I could get any sound output using Amcrest View Pro 2 AVP2.

When I opened AVP2, I realized the 841 wasn’t listed in the app. It might have been removed when I previously set it up on a different non-Amcrest NVR, and I never revisited it in the app since I didn’t need to. So, I added the camera back to AVP2, and almost immediately after, my son returned from a walk with my pup, triggering the driveway tripwire event—and this time, the audio played through the 841’s speaker!

At what point did Amcrest start requiring the camera to be added to the Amcrest App for all features to work? The only change I made was adding it back into the app, and suddenly, the audio functioned as expected.
