Is this necessary for smooth operation in the long run ?

I don't use SD so not sure what auto delete would do. Delete old firmware files ? Delete logs ? Would reboot daily / weekly help anything ?

I don’t use it on any of my cameras. Never had an issue with not using it.

As I know, it means that all videos and snapshots older than X days will be deleted, even if there is free space at your SD\HDD
It is usefull when you want to delete some wierd recordings, which happened X+1 days ago
I don't know about deleting old logs by this option

If unchecked, it will operate basing on Disk full option (if SD\HDD is full, it will overwrite files or stop recordings)

I am using Auto Delete Old Files XX Days on my cameras that default record on FTP server and if server it is offline on SD card.
Checking the FTP server log I can see now that at every hour cameras delete older than XX days recording. Very useful.
I was not sure if it will work properly so I made also as a backup a script that run on server daily to auto delete recordings older than XX+1 days.
I am not using auto reboot as the camera OS seem stable and it is restricted to LAN only.
